My best on (so far!) involved unclipping my left foot and coming to a stand still without incident. I then went to dismount by swinging my right leg over. I hadn't unclipped. I picked up the bike and landed on my back with the bike on top of me. I have no doubt that there will be more of these!

Ok not clip related but when I was 12, I remember having a BMX bike I loved to rag around the place. This one time as my dad was coming out the front door, I thought I'd prove my manliness to him and pop a wheelie. Oh I popped a wheelie al-right, with a bit to much pull up on the bars, on our steep hilly drive and with gravity doing the rest, I literally somersaulted onto my back. Sort of jackass kind of stunt gone wrong. All I remember was being completely winded by the fall on my back and literally almost in tears staggering up the drive towards my dad, pointing at my lungs and gasping that I couldn't breathe. hahaha He as a father I'm sure was concerned but smugly satisfied that his Alpha male status was still intact in the household

Spend a good deal of time in your garden, next to some thing soft to land on and try over and over unclipping. I think most times people fall it's because they are caught out so I would then next try a quite road or lane and anticipate as if you are coming to lights. It does take practise but in all honesty isn't that hard. I say this because I wonder if everything is OK with your pedals and cleats and that they're engaging and disengaging correctly? Can you loosen the pedal resistance for unclipping?

totally understandable as you've had a few set backs. I know a fellow rider who've tried many times to get going with clip pedals but she always gets worried about unclipping with cars close to her. Funnily enough I took my cage pedals of my T3 and have asked her to try those as they are not that bad IF used with stiff soled trainers.
How are you with being close to cars and other objects? Could it be that which panics you slightly to thinking you need to unclip?

im fine on stock t3 pedals and stiff soled shoes never have an issue and feel confident on the roads but when clipped in takes me a few seconds to clip in or out and when its wet longer...maybe not meant to be clipless lol

I seen something on youtube that gave a tip of slackening off a screw a little when first getting used to clipping in, having never used clipless pedals i dunno if that's right or not. Any takers??

Are you using SPD or SPD-SL pedals? Although I've never used them, I'm told SPD is better for commuting and in and out of traffic as they're alot easier to unclip. Saying that, I don't think SPD-SL are that hard to unclip.
If you have road style SPD-SL. How are you unclipping? IThe correct method is to snap out of the pedal by moving heel outwards.
I'm sure you're doing all this so maybe just more practise and then if still no luck, I'm going to say stick with what you are happy, confident and safe with.

This is correct. (I think) on most pedals or at least road style ones, you should have a tension screw on the part of the pedal that snaps your cleat in. Loosen the screw so it's easier to unclip but remember if it's too loose, you may accidentally unclip when pedalling with some force. Recommendation is, loosen it quite some way, then re-tighten as you become more confident with unclipping.

That makes sense then mate, a nice way to build up confidence with them.
