So, I've noticed over the last week or so that a lot of people out cycling seem to be kitted out in pro team jerseys (BMC and Sky are the most popular).
What's the general consensus on this? They're obviously great looking jerseys, but for an enthusiast to wear them is it more "all the gear no idea" or more akin to wearing the replica shirt of your favourite football team?

I wouldn't wear team kit but to each their own.

if its honour jeresys, ie yellow, polka, green, national champion - id say leave them, you aint earned the right to wear it, my personal opinion
normal team kit i dont mind though, its a bit 'footy fan'ish but so what, cycling IS the new football anyway
personally i would avoid sky like the plague though, unless you are happy to be regarded as a fanboy wiggite which is entirely up to you
i like the old tops though, pdm, super U, Z puegeot, chatuex d'ax, credit agricole and of course pana-sportlife classic shirts that retain functionality and look cool too

For your reference .
Rule #17 // Team kit is for members of the team.
Wearing Pro team kit is also questionable if youβre not paid to wear it. If you must fly the colors of Pro teams, all garments should match perfectly, i.e no Mapei jersey with Kelme shorts and Telekom socks.
We have our own team pro kit right guys!

I'm Lycra averse (on my size, don't be silly) so the answer has to be NO. When I get to my target(ish) size, I will spend out on nice quality gear, but a current "team kit" is still a no no. That sort of thing should only be worn if someone is paying you to wear it!!

I used to be of the opinion that it was "all the gear, no idea" but that has slightly changed now. Seems to me it's no different to wearing any name brand or supporting any team/company. No different to wearing a football/rugby shirt
I've just ordered a team sky jersey. Sadly it was too small! Lol
I appreciate that since Sky became so popular last year there's been a bit of Wiggins fandom but working for Sky I can't really support another team lol
I'm sure people will laugh at me wheezing away at 10mph but I've never cared what anyone else thought so this won't be any different!

On the other side of this the jerseys are very bright and catch the eye when driving down a road so can it be a safety thing also?

FKW - assumed the W stands for Wits, and FK is clear enough.
My personal viewpoint - honour jerseys a no no, pro kit - why not - your money, your choice. However personally I wouldn't purely because I'm tight and can by a plain jersey for less than a tenner!
Also for me it's a no to SKY jerseys, not because I have anything against them, think they look quite nice but personally no because they are mainly black and I want to be as visible as possible when riding so bright colours for me.
