Evening all. Was out for a short ride tonight and as I was (luckily) about half a mile from home my left foot felt uneven when pedalling. I thought my old shoes had given up on the sole, but it turns out it was my pedal coming out of the socket. Upon further inspection when I got back (and finally managed to unscrew the pedal) the whole inside of the Crank (might be the wrong term-where the pedal screws into!) seemed to now be stripped so any attempts at screwing the pedal back in will be useless. Needless to say, I'm gutted as I've had the bike less than 3 weeks and with no Decathlon near me, I have no idea how I'm going to be able to sort it out Will post some (bad) photos later on when I'm back on my laptop. Anyone got any advice or suggestions?

Phone or email decathlon customer service. They are usually superb and I have no doubt will sort you out.

I'd look at that situation as an excuse for an upgrade to Shimano cranks!

E mail the nearest store to you explaining your plight. Mention the large distance involved and how little time you have owned the bike. I shouldn't be surprised if they send you a replacement out in the post. May pay to mention you've been on here to seek advice. Best of luck, hope you get sorted.

Canadian bloke called Dan (i think) honestly coudlnt be more helpful when I had my problems.

So what's happened here? Have they screwed the pedal in the wrong way round and ruined the thread? Possibly ruined by your pedalling but again suggesting not screwed in the right way?
Get onto them. Sure they'll assist.

Sure they'll assist. Seems to have been screwed in the right wy, but just felt like the thread gave up on the crank. I'm not out of the saddle very often and only about 12 stone, so not loads of weight on the pedals and although my first road bike, I've never previously had a problem with pedals/cranks in 25 years of riding MTB's and other bikes. Cheers all for the advice, will give them a shout tomorrow.

You should take pictures to support your email too. I know how great Decathlon customer service is so you shouldn't have anything to fear. I got a woman's network 5 bike this month and it came with life warranty, would that be something they told you too?

Apologies for the photo sizes!
Also, does anyone have a direct email or phone number for Decathlon Customer service? As the "@customer store" contact forms on the website for the specific stores don't facilitate attachments.
Cheers

when you first fitted the pedal dude, did it feel like the thread was ok then or did it take a lot to screw it in?
Id imagine they will send you out a new crank arm and possibly new pedal. Will you be ok to fit it?
Good luck, im sure you'll get a good response pretty quick
