Is there anyone here who has an idea on how to install the K-Edge Chain Catcher to a Tiagra FD? I want to get one for my T7 but the documentation and videos all show a nut/screw on the FB that you can install the chain catcher to. The Tiagra 4600 doesnt have such a screw.

Never tried to fit one - I find the DEDA Dog fang much easier to fit and use. ( and its cheaper )

It would think someone here would have seen one of these little things. It's been seen on a number of bikes in the peloton.

I've got a cheap chinese copy on my road bike, works well but won't fit a T7 for 2 reasons :
1, designed for a standard double chainset, not a compact I don't know if they make longer ones to suit a compact, or if you could fit it low enough to work with a compact
2, designed to mount on a braze on front mech You could buy a braze on front mech and a clamp on adapter (that's what I've got)

Are these necessary on a well adjusted front derailleur? I rarely use the granny ring but if it does drop off it is fairly easy (as long as you are gently and don't put any power through the cranks) to pick the chain back up again by gently shifting up and pedalling. It's never happened on the T3 but on other bikes it has (but again only when the mech isn't set up right. It's a worse situation if it overshifts the largest ring as that does require you to stop, but I've never had this happen on a properly set up front mech.

They're not necessary, but sensible if you've got white bar tape the chain can jump off if even if everything's perfectly adjusted if you hit a bump at the wrong time

no, no need, its just a fancy gadget thats not needed unless you have one of those funny shaped chainrings, or a bad mech setup. Chains will come off, but rare and bad luck

And it can still happen of the best adjusted drivetrain if you catch a bump wrong. Deda Dog fang or the cheap chinese copies do the same job - fit and forget item - no more chipped & scratched frames.

So no one has one installed then? Yes, as I posted I have one, but they only fit 'braze on' front mechs The dog fang is a cheap easy substitute which used to be fitted as standard, still available from the workshop as a spare part for Β£1.78 last time I checked

Thanks Chas and CBR. There does seem to be a difference of opinion here. My frame is a 54 but I imagine that the diameter is the same for all frame sizes. It certainly looks like 34.9 mm to me after a rough measurement. I don't really want to disturb the seat post which I would have to do to get the exact figure.
