I am now the very happy owner of a T3 red. Very pleased with it, although there's a slight scratch on one of the brake levers (not really bothered) and the front derailleur needs adjusting - top three gears grate. Effortless to ride and also remarkably smooth. I was expecting a rather harsher ride with the 23mm tyres.
Interestingly, and rather surprisingly, and this would tend to bear out recent comments by DelB and Robothamster - the 60 was too small for me. I'm nearly 6'3" and always assumed 60 would be my size. Fortunately Surrey Quays also had 63s.
I wasn't so impressed with the service I received from the mechanic though. I won't name and shame him (yet) because this probably isn't the place to do so and maybe I'm being unduly critical, but every little request was answered begrudgingly. I could understand if he was busy but I was just about the only person there. For instance, I asked if he could flip the stem to reduce the bar to saddle drop a little, and he said there was little point in doing so because it's only a + or - 2 degrees stem (I thought it was 6 degrees) but if I wanted to I could do it at home. Eventually, and somewhat reluctantly, he did flip it. I also said that, although the 63 was a better all round fit than the 60, I felt I was overreaching a little, and would it be possible to fit their 90mm stem instead of the, I think, 120mm stem on the 63. Maybe this is quite normal, but he said that he would have to charge labour in addition to the cost of the 90mm stem, totalling about Β£25. The reason I was rather disappointed with this was because I seem to recall others here, possibly oldtimer amongst them, saying a shorter stem was provided and fitted free of charge.
Anyway, I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on this. Also I didn't receive an owner's manual, just a receipt. Is this normal for the T3?

Oldtimer it was! ... My manual was in a poly bag attached to the bike ( a CD inside) .......... wasn't really a manual if I remember correctly, so wouldn't be too concerned. As for the mechanic, perhaps you should move 'up north'! I wouldn't be happy with a front d rubbing already: mine didn't when I bought it, did when the cables stretched, and doesn't following the 6-month service.

Thanks for the quick response oldtimer. Have to say I was pretty underwhelmed by the whole experience, all the more disappointing considering the good customer service most people here seem to get.

probably more to do with geographical location
i know im casting aspertions but the south east seems to, with the odd exception i grant you, be a place void of social integrity and being nice to each other so im not too surprised
good to see you got your bike though fred, get out and give it some
edit: just read that back and i hope no one takes that as a personal attack as that isnt how its intended, i think on a individual basis its like everywhere but on the whole life feels alot less caring in the SE, APOLOGIES TO ANYONE offended

It's often down to the individual these things, probably got out the wrong side of bed or is just miserable. ... but you not getting along with someone fred, that's novel, you surprise me - it's probably that 'London' thing, grumpiness goes up exponentially for many around there IMO . Anyway, you've got one, the sun is out, the weekend's nearly here - glass half full n all that . Oh, and trimming gears is a way of life now lol . Seriously though, great that you've got it, glad it panned out eventually. On the stem front, I err in and out of whether I shorten the stem, somedays I'm up for the aggressive forward prone position as standard and other days I wonder if I should ease it back a bit; might take a while to conclude that one.

if ever there was a case of starting again.....that city, level it.
controversy reigns supreme, im headed for the tower now!

Pretty chuffed that I've eventually got one. I was surprised though that the 63 felt so much better than the 60. Regarding the stem, ideally I would like to get used to the more forward position. When I first tried it I didn't think my back could take it for very long, but after about half an hour it was feeling a lot better.
Edit: Forgot to say that the mechanic also said that he should be charging me for flipping the stem. When I mentioned The Triban Owner's Club to him and that people here had received a lot more for no charge, he said the problem with this type of site is that the majority of people here don't know what they're talking about.
Don't know how long he's been in the area but he sounded Spanish.

I would understand him charging for a new stem; it is a chargeable item but really wouldn't take that long to flip a stem so not sure why he would say that given that it was quite.
And how dare he speak bad of the TOC. Next event down south, we'll head his way!
