We should start a 'frequently asked questions' thread in technical and post some links to previous threads which answer the issue, then pin it to the top.

Oh and they're welcome to use MTB pedals if they like, just don't say it's for serious road riding - should of course remove the drops and add flat bars as well (only joking, they can do what the hell they like).

I wanted a T-Bar turbo. spent some time looking for a clean, unabused, manual one but I gave up. sw20 was non-turbo? I don't recall much about cars and engine codes anymore. It's all about two wheels for me now.

Those days are gone now and I'm kind of glad. Although loved the cars and races that ensued, alot of the people got on my nerves. Hated that whole 'boy racer' scene. Never could stand them. Anyways I'm alive (a few aren't) and I caused no damage and like you say, all bikes now. I don't have Gran Turismo to blame but Half Life growing up wasted my time. So wish I had discovered road cycling earlier. I could of been a contender in TDF! *could is the key word.

So are spd-sl cleats the ones with the three bolts on them? And are they the road cleats?

Left: A "3 Hole Pattern" or "Look Compatible" road shoe. Right: An "SPD Compatible" or "2 hole pattern" shoe for casual use and off road riding.

I actually put my Shimano 105 SPD SLs on today, I really do love how easy it is to get everything connected, but after using SPDs for so long, getting out was so different.
I would like to say that I went so much faster and they were so much more comfortable...but I really didn't see any difference, apart from the fact that the 105 pedals match the rest of the 105 GS, and look awesome, and lets be honest, looks are more important than anything else

This has been a really interesting thread. My use of XT SPD pedals and MTB shoes stems back to my old mountain biking days, but having read through the pros and cons of each, I've taken a punt and ordered a pair of the above. I assume that, despite being plastic bodied, they're pretty hard wearing? Cheers.
