Hi All,
Just getting used to my new RC520 and loving it so far. However, definitely feel the need to fit mudguards for my Winter commutes etc..
Anyone have any recommendations for good quality, reasonably priced and easy to fit, guards suitable for this particular bike with the stock 28mm tyres. Ideally I would like them to also be easy to remove for Summer riding in the sunshine, but that is not a deal-breaker.
Thanks in advance. David

On my 540 which I think is very similar I have SKS Bluemels with 28mmm tyres. Seem well made and robust. I believe these are what Decathlon would fit to a new bike.

I've got the SKS Bluemels on my RC520 and would recommend them but there are other similar designs out there which would work just as well, you can get different widths and 35mm is about right. They're not particularly easy to fit and were designed for bikes with rim brakes so you'll need some extra bolts to the ones supplied. With most proper mudguards the initial fitting, adjusting and cutting the stays to length is a pain but once done it's relatively easy to undo a few bolts and remove/replace them.

Hi all,
Thanks for your recommendations. Had already had a look at the Raceblades, and they had them in stock at my local bike shop, so went for a set of those. Exactly as described; easy to fit and remove and seem sturdy enough to survive a few Winters.
Only downside is the lack of any protection in front of the seat stay, but apart from them really effective.
Thanks, David
