Hi there,
Very quick question, if you don't mind ...
I am currently riding a size 57 500SE, which I intend to retire to turbo trainer duties in favour of a new RC520, now that I have the budget (assuming they ever get any stock). Obviously the sizing of bikes now follows the S/M/L etc. pattern, and the online size guide indicates that I should be riding a M (I am around 177cm tall). However, I have also been told by someone at Decathlon that a size 57 is more like the current L size.
Anyone have any direct experience of how these sizes actually compare ... being in a tier 3 area, I cannot travel to my local store to try one out unless and until travel restrictions are eased, and would like to buy sooner rather than later (again, assuming they ever get any in stock).
Thanks for your time, David

No direct experience I'm afraid but in most brands a large is around a 58cm.

I am 180cm, and my Ultra 500 is a medium (54) and i find it a comfortable fit.

The RC520 has a shorter reach and higher stack than a 500SE so I'd be inclined to go medium unless to want a more upright riding position. Smaller frame and possibly a longer stem.
I'm 183cm and was riding a 57cm Triban 3 (same frame as 500SE). You probably would have been better on a 54cm 500SE.

Lie Rocket at 183cm I have the 57cm frame. I think the usual comment is if in doubt go for the smaller option.

I'm 175cm and have a m rc520, I would have ridden a 54 in the older models. I would suggest a m for you.

Hi all,
Thank you for your responses on this topic. Now taken possession of a shiny new RC520, and first impressions ... excellent.
I went for the Medium in the end, and feel that was definitely the right choice, everything just feels like it is in the right place, comfortable riding position, the works ... and Rocket, I think you were probably spot on that the 54cm 500SE would have been a better choice at the time. It being my first road bike (at least the first I had owned in about 30 years) I naively took the recommendation of the guy in-store that the 57 was right. Don't regret it for a second ... that bike and I have clocked up 15,000 miles, including 7 centuries, and always had fun together, but still ...
Thank you all, David
