Hellooo..
I'm asking for a little advice please, I have a B’Twin Ultra 900 AF that I've ridden for around 18months / 5k very hilly road miles on it, but I have since upgraded to a carbon road bike and want to keep this bike for fun stuff. I still have the Aksiums wheel set but I want to put a bigger tyre on it, say a 28mm (theres been mentions that 32mm's will fit but I'm not convinced). Mainly to have some fun on the tracks and trail rides that are in the area. It's the model that has the under chain stay back brake. What are your experiences and knowledge of tyres for this model? Its a great bike that's been a real introduction to distance riding, and I don't want it to be relegated to the turbo or to gather dust through lack of use, when I can still ride it off road and have fun with it.

I'm sure someone did this with an Alur (previous model) but don't know what tyres they used. As Paul says above the problem is that tyres vary greatly in size between manufacturers and models (think clothing sizes) and also depends on the rim width of the wheel. Vittoria Randonneur 28mm are very narrow and will certainly fit (only measure about 25mm) Schwalbe cx pro 30mm are also narrow and may fit but I havn't tried them.

i have an 720AF Ultra with Ultegra 6800 brakes. 28mm is the max accepted by these brakes. i use schwabe one in 28mm. for clarity you can access shimanos max rated via their web site. it is not only width you need to take into consideration but the height too.
