At Van Rysel, I was able to discover the brand new EDR frame, available in aluminum (EDR AF) and carbon (EDR CF) versions, which is the brand's new endurance bike. The aluminum frame is announced at 1460g in size M which should allow for the Ultegra version to be around 8.5kg. It is not an evolution of an already existing framework but an entirely new framework developed from scratch. We note in particular the shrouds which are fixed low at the level of the seatpost. Aluminum model available in Shimano 105 and Shimano Ultegra. Carbon model, available in Shimano Ultegra and Shimano Dura Ace, all for prices ranging from 1000 to 3800 €. These 5 bikes will be available mid-year in skid versions and disc versions will be offered later in the fall. EDR AF 105: aluminum frame and carbon fork, Shimano 105 equipment and Fulcrum Racing 6 wheels, 8.8kg in size M: € 1,000 EDR AF Ultegra: aluminum frame and carbon fork, Shimano Ultegra equipment and Fulcrum Racing 4 wheels, 8.6kg in size M: € 1,300 EDR CF 105: carbon frame and fork, Shimano 105 equipment and Fulcrum Racing 900 wheels, 8kg in size M: € 1,600 EDR CF Ultegra: carbon frame and fork, Shimano Ultegra equipment and Fulcrum Racing 0 aluminum wheels, 7.5kg in size M: € 2,500 EDR CF Dura-Ace: carbon frame and fork, Shimano Dura-Ace equipment and Fulcrum Racing 0 carbon wheels, 6.6kg in size M: € 3,800

I think Decathlon have priced themselves out of the market here. I'd rather go for a Ribble R872 in similar spec and save a few hundred quid. Same spec, weight, style - just cheaper and quality just as good.

Same spec, weight, style - just cheaper and quality just as good. Prices look to be much the same? The VR in carbon frame with 105 is € 1,600 (~ £1,350.) Ribble's website shows R872 with 105 for £1,300
I wonder also how much the exchange rate is affecting Decathlon - taking it from four years ago, it would work out at £1,150-£1,200.
Companies like Ribble will also be subject to increased costs when buying components from abroad, but wonder if Decathlon are affected more as they have to convert everything to GBP for the UK market.
