Hi everyone, thought I'd say hello here after seeing the lurkers thread and before jumping in to create a thread in Triban Talk (and feel free to advise if there's a better place for my planned thread than that, only had a v quick look so far).
Contrary to what my name might indicate I'm not some Triban superfan with all the different models etc (it was just what came to mind at the time) and in fact do not currently own a Triban at all but am in the market for buying my first after spending the past week reading about them and other bikes.
Have been to decathlon on the weekend to try a few different models think I'll be doing this a couple more times to make sure I'm comfortable parting w/the cash and as satisfied as I can be with which one I end up going for.
What I intend to do is create a thread explaining what I'm looking for, where I've come from (TL;DR: folding bike) and post my impressions of the models following my test ride sessions and any questions I have.
Figured this could be a good way to go about it for someone getting their first full size bike (since they were a teen, at least) and the discussion could equally provide a resource for future potential Tribanians (particularly if coming from folding bikes) looking to purchase, as not not necessarily seen the kind of info and answers to questions I've got in my head following my first test session.
Seems the forum might be pretty slow so how much engagement I'll get before buying one probably in a few weeks/a months time I'm not sure, but no problem seems like everyone appreciates how nice everyone on here is so whatever is contributed will be appreciated. Hopefully any input will soon after feed into my evolution into a true "TribanMan"..π

A very slippery slope is to be found, i speak from nearly empty pockets after i give some of it to Decathlon, not only buying the Cycle, but more is spent on the clothing, or should that be the other way around. I bought a second hand b'twin T3, enjoyed it for a while then i splashed out on an Ultra 500, wish i had found this cycling thing years ago, now i am a committed OMIL on a Triban.

A very slippery slope is to be found.. now i am a committed OMIL on a Triban. Yes I'm sure I will end up splashing on some clothes etc appropriate for longer rides too and sucked into buying all the other bits at some point (inc. basic maintenance been reading a little about that too, not bothered with that on the Brompton so far always taken it too the shop, time will tell if I can commit to the effort of that, I'm pretty lazy but get the feeling it could turn into a nice hobby)..took me a good while to deduce the acronym, got LBS from reading a few of the forums without issue but its finally come to me - must be 'old man in lycra'!π
