Still no sign of these on Decathlon UK website.... They appear to be hidden pages not accessed via the menu system for now. Triban RC 500 Triban RC 520After seeing his strava from today... I think chas might be on soon to give his wisdom about the 520

Spares parts can be ordered through the workshop, it sometimes takes a while for parts for new models to become available.

Both bikes are showing up on the UK website now and my local store has one medium RC520 in. Judging by the size charts I would need a small though, and these aren't showing up as available on the website yet; only XS, M, L and XL are there.
The bike in store looks pretty decent though, with my only slight grumble being that the cable to the front brakes looks aesthetically a bit clumsy, being attached at the top of the forks and then flapping free while going straight down to the brake point without being fastened anywhere else.
Hopefully the S size will appear soon and I can actually try one.

chas Do you know if Decathlon consider these two as replacements for the current Triban 520 & 540? I think I saw mention of a more 'race' focused 900 model due, which might supersede the Ultra 900? I'm not clear where the previous new models (Ultra 500/520) will fit in the range - any thoughts?

The road bikes will be split into two groups, the Triban range being developed for a UK market (and sold worldwide) and an as yet unnamed sports range developed in Belgium. The at/gf bikes are part of the sports range,I don't know any more about upcoming sports models.

chas can you weigh your bike please and give us the bad news. Does one of the cables on the right actually rub on the front fork below the steerer or is it just poor cabling on the bike in the Decathlon pictures?

Does one of the cables on the right actually rub on the front fork below the steerer or is it just poor cabling on the bike in the Decathlon pictures? I'm not sure of the accuracy but I weighed mine at 10.6 kg against a claimed 10.2kg. It does seem a bit heavy compared to rim braked bikes but actually isn't bad against similar priced competition. Mine is getting heavier on a daily basis as I add things on, I'll update when it's finished next week. The brake cables have anti compression outers which are very stiff, the rear does run a bit low onto the fork and the front sticks out a bit (doesn't 'flap about') as noted by tptmuso , both issues could be easily sorted by shortening them slightly so probably better than having them 'just right' and no spare for stem flipping etc.

I picked up an XS yesterday. Initial thoughts are that the brakes definitely need bedding in, as they feel very weak. That's normal though, right? It feels a pretty heavy compared with my Ultra AF but that's fine, I didn't buy it to ride hard and fast, though I've no doubt it would do a great job once it gets going. Also the seatpost is proper short - extended fully it's only just long enough for me. Weird as I could barely swing my leg over a small frame (!) Lastly I seem to have got one of the original Adept+ frames, as I peeled off a top tube sticker to reveal the original lettering! All the other frames in the stop didn't have this. chas I had a look in the mudguard bosses and mine don't look threaded either - does that mean in reality fitting mudguards will be a PITA?

The brakes are great when bedded in but I was shocked how bad for the first few times. Find some hills and they'll soon be sorted. The mudguards can be fitted with longer bolts than those supplied or I fitted rivnuts (same as bottle cage bosses) to the bridges. I've used a long bolt through the forks as I'm fitting a dynamo light on the front. I assume they made some xs frames before discovering the adept problem, I don't know when new ones will arrive but you can accept you have a rare one or return it and wait?

Oh I prefer the AdeptΒ± graphics! Pretty sure everything else is the same. Itching to get out on it now. What mudguards have you gone for?

I've used the SKS Bluemells 35mm, went for ones without mudflaps as I want to add my own. The wheels and tyres are the Prime race and Conti's I had on my Scott which although still 28mm come up bigger (and saved 800g) so I wanted to fit the guards with these on. I might use the originals over winter and keep these for long rides.
