Thanks Paulinblack A bit more detail, this is now my third Btwin and is the first one purchased brand new. Like many others on here I started with the Red T3 back in 2013which I then upgraded to the FC700 a year later It has served me well but with the big 5-0 looming this year and a fantastic offer on the Ultra in Jan I decided to treat myself My FC700 is size 55cm but has always felt a bit small really, when I first purchased I had to swap out standard seatpost for a longer one. I had gone to Surrey Quays Decathlon between xmas and new year as they had a Med size aluminum frame ultra Di2 (last one in country)with the intention of buying that but realised I needed the Large not Med (I also tried a large frame ultra with mechanical ultegra which was better size) and they were none left. Then a week later the Carbon 940 Di2 went on offer so with a nod from the boss I pulled the trigger. The frame feels so much better in size and I therefore feel so much more comfortable on it. The Di2 gears are so smooth. I added the Etube wireless unit which enables firmware updates and gear tunning via a tablet or phone and also allows connection to my wahoo elemnt to show current gears and battery levels. Set it to semi sync shifting so when you drop from big ring to small it also drops two cogs on rear cassette at same time. Pressing and holding shift button the gears keep shifting up/down until you release the button. The gears are whisper quiet with not a hint of chain rub and Front Derailleur auto trims as you move up or down rear cassette. I came with a med cage RD so able to take cassettes upto 32T The Mavic Cosmic C40 Elite carbon wheelset is so light and bearings mean they run forever. Ultegra calipers are fitted with carbon specific mavic pads and matched up with the direct mount caliper on front (twin mounts like pic below)the stopping power means I don't even think of wanting discs. Caught a couple of my mates out at weekend when I braked for cars and they got a bit close behind me as stopped so quick Deda carbon handle bars are nice but couldn't get on with the supplied Fizik saddle. I have a selle SMP on the FC700 for few years so went for another one ( utriban thats the reason for the funny nose of saddle) this time an SMP Plus.3 months riding on the turbo meant it It had been broken in so felt like a comfy armchair with no discomfort at all Have been riding it on the turbo since Jan but Sunday was maiden ride outside and 85km never felt so comfortable. Several PB's along the way so comfort translated to better performance too Knocked 30s off my best time on one segment. Previous best had been 14:04 and did it in 13:33 In summary did I need it No! Do I think I would ever do it justice No! Am I happy I bought it. Oh Yes!
Bring on the summer I cant wait

I'm very jealous RobP . I'm really not sure what to do now - Stick with my Mach as is; Upgrade Mach to Di2; See if I can find a 940CF, or wait and see if a disc version with Di2 comes out in the next year or so. Is the L in the Ultra the equivalent of the 57 Mach ? Would you mind doing some measurements for me: 1. Reach: Tip of saddle to centre of stem faceplate 2. Saddle Height: Centre of BB to to of saddle 3. Diameter of handlebars Thanks (Still burning with jealousy! )

Reach: Tip of saddle to centre of stem faceplate = 55cm remeber my saddle slightly odd and this with a 100mm stem 2. Saddle Height: Centre of BB to top of saddle = again due to saddle design have gone centre bb to saddle rail = 72cm 3. Diameter of handlebars= centre to centre bars are 42cm would also add back of seat post to centre stem cap = 57cm personally if i were you i would add Di2 to your mach as very similar anyway. you could get Di2 upgrade kit (retains your crank and brake calipers) for Β£675 HEREMy FC wasnt di2 compatible frame so not an option for me

Thanks RobP . I think the measurements I did with the Mach ended up with: Reach: 59cm Saddle height: 81cm Handlebars: 44 cm. So it seems similar or at least workable. I have seen one for sale and have made a casual enquiry. But I think you are right. The most logical thing would be to upgrade the Mach. I'd looked at the upgrade kits, but was balking a bit at the price and also my level of competence! Fortunately, they don't have the medium cage derailleur in stock at present, so I can't pull the trigger just yet! I've also got a Wahoo, so will have a look at the Etube wireless unit.

No problem Paulinblack There were a couple of brand new ones on eBay at same price I paid Wireless unit is THIS And it allows ant+ / Bluetooth connection to Garmin/ wahoo head units as well as phone or tablet for tunning I was a bit worried about how complicated di2 might be but having had a look would have happily fitted group set from scratch as actually easier than mechanical when you factor in cable tension etc

Someone might buy one from under me! I'll probably go down the upgrade route, but am going to bottom out the Ultra route first. I'm wondering if the frame/weight/wheel difference would be worth the change. I've read into your posts that its not just the size and slick changing that makes you smile with the Ultra?

Yeah you are right the wheels feel so different to the Β£150 Mavic Akisiums I have on the FC The Cosmic C40 retail @ Β£900 a pair which is about double max what I would have ever considered paying for wheels but the fact the spec included them, the Di2 and a carbon frame at that price point was what convinced me it was a fantastic deal If you do go for one you wont be disappointed
