Good morning from Norfolk, my name is Mel and i have just bought a second hand lovely RED Triban 3.
New years resolution was to join lads at work on a Sportive and get fit.
I have been using an old Raleigh MTB steel frame bike, with road tyres, which replaced the cracked white wall tyres, started off doing about 7 miles, well i was a tad unfit, 15 stone 8lbs, and i have just got rid of the 8lb of xmass, and have been increasing the distance to about 35 miles, and have covered 183 miles so far using the Zeopoxa App on my phone, most of them on the back roads of North Norfolk, when shift patten&wife allows.
Been reading quite a lot about the Triban 3, and was hooked, thanks for all the information that every one has been putting out there, now i know i have a "Good'un".
Last owner has changed the wheels to Fulcrum, rest is bog standard, i think, now all i have to do is get used to drop bars.
Regards,
Mel.

Great choice mel. You have bought a classic. I put Fulcrum 7 wheels on my RED T3 within two weeks of buying the bike. Still going strong 5 years on but there is little left of the original components.

Welcome on board Mel. My T3 has had all it's bits changed as they wore out but the heart of the bike (the frame) is still the same a cracker! Enjoy.

Hi Mel red T3 is a good choice I also have an old raleigh MTB , 1998 Apex which I use a lot more than the T3 but don't tell anyone on here It has the sora groupset 9 speed on it that I took off the T3 when I stuck Tiagra on it.

That's an impressive jump in distance! Don't go too mad. Welcome along.

Thanks for the welcome, i must admit i have been looking forward to how to set the T3 up, lads at work have given me a hand, seat height and posture now correct, i had to change a tube as i had broken the valve core on the rear tyre, went to my LBS, at least Dick Turpin wore a mask when he robbed folk, "Don't do valve cores mate, Β£6.00 ta very much for a new tube", well i paid it all in loose change, went on tinter web and found Wiggle do the valves Β£1.43 each, think it is Ribble that could do a twin pack of tubes for Β£2.99, and as it is the only bike shop where i live they have a captured audience, but i could not wait four or five days for delivery, lesson learnt.
Avatar is for all the little old lady's around here, the old boys in their cars give me a bit of room, but these old girls they zoom by in their Corsas, their eyeballs just over the steering wheel, chatting to the old biddy sitting next to them, grrrrr.
The distance i have incurred gradually, i started of just doing 7- 11 miles a few times, not really pushing it, then an increase to 15-20 miles, the most mileage in one trip was 35, but i knew i had over done it, i am 64 after all, took a step back and after chatting to lads at work went looking for a road bike, and we have got a sportive booked for May.
Nearly got the idea and some gear, hi-vis orange and green jerseys, but now B'Twin clothing? just got to sneak that by the missus somehow.

Just spent about four hours cleaning and polishing the bike, do i call it "The Bike" or is it called the "T3" (lower case), the missus calls it some thing else, didn't think she new that kind of language, answers on a white fiver please.
