My 500SE free hub went boom out on a ride on Thursday. I probably needed new wheels and brakes anyway but I was offered (what I thought was an excellent deal at my LBS) on a 105 equipped Izalco Race. I've always liked the Focus bikes, my summer bike is a Cayo Ultegra and the Izalco is the new model of the same. I can see a benefit of training on a very similar bike. As much as I liked my 500SE, training on an 8 speed, triple chainset Sora then swapping to 11 speed Ultegra was always a huge change when the seasons changed. With some big riding plans for 2018 I think it was a wise decision but a little bit more than just buying a new wheel for the 500SE haha, who am I trying to kid?! The main difference between the old Cayo's and the replacement Izalco's is the paint scheme, typically Focus bikes have been quite understated but this has gone complete opposite but I think after the initial shock I like it..... Edit- testing new hosting site for images.

Can't see the pictures I'm afraid. Oh! I wonder what's happened there? They were visible yesterday? Any tips on photograph hosting sites, I don't use them a lot but previously found photobucket OK.

Ah - Many thanks @robert I tried using the imgur site and it also wouldn't work on my iPad. I think an new iPad is in order, too many apps just won't work on it now, after all it is five years old so I can't say I've not had my monies worth.
I collected my new bike last Friday and it's killed me having it sitting there not turning a wheel due to my double man-flu and the awful weather. I may just get the wheels turning tomorrow. It's all ready to go, mudguards etc. Those go-faster racing stripes are going to have to work wonders for me after the week I've just had haha.

Nice one! The Izalco Race Carbon Sora was reviewed last week in Road.cc and got 8/10 which prompted me to have a further look as I'm looking to purchase a new bike later this year. Would love to hear your thoughts after a few rides and once you start to get more attuned with it.

Nice one! The Izalco Race Carbon Sora was reviewed last week in Road.cc and got 8/10 which prompted me to have a further look as I'm looking to purchase a new bike later this year. Would love to hear your thoughts after a few rides and once you start to get more attuned with it. Day 8 of my man-flu has really restricted my exercising recently so I'm afraid my Izalco Race is still sitting there looking pretty. I did do a very slow (intentionally extremely low HR ride so as not to stress my body) yesterday on it. Nowhere near enough to give much feedback. Literally a 13 mile ride to pootle collect the car at 15mph average. It's lovely having a new bike everything is so shiny and everything works smoothly - mines 105 equipped though but with the ALU frame. I need to adjust my mudguards abit, the rear one was clattering off the seat tube. I might just stick some Velcro on it to stop it rubbing or tapping away on the frame over bumpy roads. In addition to this, I do have another Focus bike, I've got the Cayo Carbon frame (the model before the Izalco Race was launched - but identical geometry) that's Ultegra all round and I've upgraded a few bits, like wheels, tyres, stem etc. A lovely bike, I really really like it. I've used it for two summers now and although I'd love something special for summer there's really nothing wrong with this one.
