I've been in a similar position to Paulinblack of wanting to move to disc brakes and not seeing anything suitable in the current B'twin range . I've been looking on ebay for a while, putting in speculative bids and wondering whether to wait and see what next year's range brings when my daughter said she'd like to have another go at cyclocross. We were going to share my bike on Sat, but this came up locally and my bid was successful It ticks most of the boxes for me, having a standard hollowtech2 crank and BB, mudguard eyes, the 'new' Tiagra groupset works really well and 10s consumables are reasonably priced (I may even swap it to my summer bike which has 10s wheels), the 34/46 chainrings are ideal for me for cx/winter bike (I prefer the smaller jump to a standard compact but glad of the 34 rather than the 36 of a cx chainset) Only downside is it's a bit porky compared to my old cx, I'm hoping most of it is the deepish section wheels and cheapish tyres so I'm writing this waiting for a Wiggle box to arrive, the standard wheels can have road tyres on for winter training

Looks good. Have a friend who has one of these and really likes it. Thanks, I had a short ride today and am pleased so far but rushed home to wait for the new wheels and they've not arrived Fortunately I'm off tomorrow as well so fingers crossed, I want to get them on and bed in the new discs before the cx race on Sat, hope it still looks good afterwards

After 3 today when the wheels finally arrived, Wiggle refunded my next day delivery charge saying they'd had IT problems... Anyway, got them on, I don't know the bare weight of the stock wheels, but complete with tyres using Racing Ralphs I already had on the new ones it's saved over 1kg A minor irritation is that the new wheels have centerlock hubs, I decided to use adapters and 6 bolt rotors so a bit of a faff to fit and I needed to adjust the pads slightly when I put them in. I think I'll be able to space out the rotors on the stock wheels slightly to make swapping easier. Just had time for a quick spin to bed in the new rotors before it got dark www.strava.com/activities/1259525633 feels better but I think a lot of that is the tyres.

Oooops is that a busted rear hanger or worst ? Yes, bent the rear mech as well when it jammed against the chainstay, fortunately the new wheel seems ok. A lot of casualties today with the consistancy of mud and some longish grass to bind it together. I ran 1/2 lap and swapped to my old bike which clogged up less despite rim brakes.

Swapped the 9s groupset off my summer bike, touched up the paint chipped off by the mech or worn away by the mud and put some road tyres on the stock wheels for winter trainer mode. I've put narrower mud tyres on my 'race' wheels ready for sat, after that I'll sort some mudguards out. Not much need for them today in glorious sunshine www.strava.com/activities/1266668063
