I have a 520, but I am building flat bar road bike from an old Cro-Mo Sunn roader frame from the late 90s for getting around town. It will have flat pedals and a 1x9 drivetrain for simplicity of build and maintenance. It will get used for short trips and commuting and any journey where I don't want to put the lycra and spds on and I'll save the 520 for longer runs. Mind you, I have got the steel bug and am tempted to sell the 520 and get a Spa Audax. Is this considered a thought crime on these boards? I'd say there's nothing wrong with considering other bikes (particularly when there's no direct Btwin equivalent) but selling your 520 would be a crime when it's such a versatile bike. It could justify a place in anyone's stable, in your case either with gravel tyres for a little rough stuff or lighter mudguardless summer option to your Audax,or with guards as a cheaper to maintain winter option? Alas, it is the lack of stabling that forces reluctant sale of the Btwin. If I had a shed or a garage, I'd almost certainly keep it. There's a couple of things that mildly irk me the triple chainset and in my ignorance went up rather than down a frame size so the fit has always been something of a compromise, but nothing too awful. As a first road bike, I was more than happy.

I just noticed I am approaching 25000kms on the T3. Likely to hit it in the next 2 weeks.

Still got the classic RED UPPERCASE T3 which I use as the winter bike. In fact I did a 50 mile Sportive on it last weekend as the weather was a bit grotty. I have just bought an Ultegra upgrade for my carbon Cinelli and will be putting the 105 groupset on the T3 and finally get rid of the triple crankset which has never worked perfectly. This means that only the frame and forks remain of the original bike Finished the upgrade today. The T3 now has Shim 105 5700 10x2 with FSA Gossamer crankset. The latter is actually 35 gm lighter than the Shimano equivalent. The bike now weighs under 9 kilos and is less than a kilo heavier than the Cinelli which has 400 gm lighter wheels. With new cables and bar tape it looks as good or better than it did in January 2013. I just got the trusty T3 out of mothballs for the winter. I must admit I hanker after something new but it still looks great and with all the upgrades its a match for more expensive kit out there. The only thing I can fault is the wheel clearance which limits the tyres to 23mm when using mudguards (Crud Roadracers). On the subject of Crud Roadracers I discovered that although the Mk2s are no longer on sale, Crud still has all the components available which they will supply direct. Mine wore through due to the limited clearance but I replaced the main blades for £13

Triban 540 Flat Bar Picked it up just before discontinued earlier this year, my commuter bike and the occasional leisure ride
Am looking at a new endurance bike come spring but will still keep the Triban as the commuter/winter bike.

When the realisation hits that your #2 bike (the T3) needs some serious love/servicing/cash spent, and in the meantime will be put away for a while. I've come off the bike a couple of times in the last few weeks due to various factors, so not only does it need new cassette/chain/wheels/etc, but also now probably need new shifters (the right one is weirdly a little bent ). TFW you realise its cheaper to buy a new bike that get your existing bike up to a serviceable standard www.decathlon.com.au/p/8379188_triban-500-road-bike-cn.html#/18-200-l

It's fine, does the job, but I much prefer being on my 520. I think probably as it just feels more refined due to having full Shimano groupset (albeit, it's 'only' Sora.)
Not sure what upgrades you'd made to your T3 you might be disappointed if you replace it with a stock 500.

I still have my white T3 in the shed, but it would need at least a new back wheel, new cassette and chain rings, so it would probably work out cheaper to just buy a new bike.

Still on my T5 from 4 years ago. Summer and winter ride, cleaned after every outing, newer Sora Chainset, 105 rear, RS10 wheels and 25's, Giant Defy guards for the wetter days. Maybe something lighter with the xmas bonus if the Mrs allows N+1.

Hi,
My last post on this topic was 2018 when my red T3 had covered over 4000ml. Well the milage now is nearer 10,000ml and remarkably its still with most of the original components bar brake blocks, chain and a brooks saddle.

The White Destroyer is permanently fitted with mudguards and has been since 2017. It's my bad weather bike but still going strong after 31,000 miles from May 2013. Frame, bars, stem and seat post that is 😂

Much the same with my 2012 RED. Mudguards are fitted and it's used as a wet weather/winter bike. Only the frame is now original as everything else has been replaced as components have filtered down from No 1 bike. I love the bike still and can't imagine ever selling it. The one thing I would like to do is fit 28mm tyres for the rough winter roads but there is scarcely clearance for 25's

My red t3 (2012 I think) is still my one and only road bike and never missed a beat or let me down in any way. Love it. I now also have a TT bike and a CX bike but red t3 was my first love and still going strong.
