just bought another. Rockrider 540 - mainly for kid transport for which I wanted low gears and disc brakes - looking forward to great adventures and weekends away with the lad. Thanks to chas for the buying advice. Will have a little play on the trails - never know might get into mtbing..

Am I right? 500SE no longer available on the website. Afraid so, the last direct descendant of the much loved Triban 3 (which started this forum) is no more, replacement models follow modern trends with more relaxed geometry and bigger tyre clearance.

I have a 520, but I am building flat bar road bike from an old Cro-Mo Sunn roader frame from the late 90s for getting around town. It will have flat pedals and a 1x9 drivetrain for simplicity of build and maintenance.
It will get used for short trips and commuting and any journey where I don't want to put the lycra and spds on and I'll save the 520 for longer runs.
Mind you, I have got the steel bug and am tempted to sell the 520 and get a Spa Audax. Is this considered a thought crime on these boards?

I'd say there's nothing wrong with considering other bikes (particularly when there's no direct Btwin equivalent) but selling your 520 would be a crime when it's such a versatile bike. It could justify a place in anyone's stable, in your case either with gravel tyres for a little rough stuff or lighter mudguardless summer option to your Audax,or with guards as a cheaper to maintain winter option?

My Ultra 700 AF is still my main bike and will be for a few years I expect. Upgraded it a bit (better wheels, 105 chainset), whacked a longer stem on, changed the pedals and saddle to suit me. Really can't see how another bike would be better tbh. It fits me perfectly and I bloody love it.
Obviously if one of the carbon B'twins ever went heavily discounted I *might* be tempted.
