So going to get my c2w this year and wondering between a few models, the ultra 720af looks superb for the price, but the ultra 900cf is it worth the extra? Also will they take 28mm tyres. Or should I hold off and wait for the gf af. Pros and cons s of ultegra Vs 105 and the sram rival, is carbon worth it? Decisions decisions

Decisions decisions Purely me...but I like Shimano and you know it will just work! And again personally don't really see need or point of anything above 105. I'd save the cost and spend it on wheels/other bits etc.

I'd start with the intended use of the bike. BTW, c2w should not let you top up the price. 105 vs Rival - they are equally good for the money, market takes care of it. You have to decide which one is better for you, as they have quite different interfaces. 105 vs Ultegra - nobody on this forum is that good or that pro, to have overgrown 105. And I'm not going to apologize for this statement . Money is better spent on having right stuff, such as shoes or clothing, which make way bigger difference to your cycling enjoyment. Tools too. carbon/alu - for me, main pro for carbon is comfort which translates into better handling, especially on rough surfaces at speed. I'd pick it over alu if other stuff checks out. brakes - I'd always pick disk over rim brakes. especially the rival hrd (comes on gf) - it's simply centuries apart from rim brake technology (with exception of a very narrow group of highly specialized bikes).

Which begs the question is the 900cf worth Β£600 more than the 900af. Or do I wait for the gf af to come out. Kind of agree that ultegra is more than o need

I voted AF GF. The reason being that I personally want something with disc brakes for my winter commuting. Since I have a Mach, there would be not point going for the other two.
You don't say what you are going to use the bike for. So its difficult to choose for you. If you just want something to pootle in the sunshine then go for the 720AF and save yourself Β£600. If you are a racy dude with lots of spare cash then go for the 900CF.

How does it stack up against planet x pro carbon though as similar price.

How does it stack up against planet x pro carbon though as similar price. Don't know, but I do know that Decathlon customer service is second to none imho. Do Planet X do lifetime warranty on the frame and a couple of years on the forks and wheels? Every time I've had a problem (no matter how minor) Decathlon have sorted it with a new replacement. That's what makes me keep coming back.

Pro carbon I hear is like riding on a wet noodle, very pliable...which is what put me off getting one!
