I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts as the the difference in size between the Triban 540 (I currently have a large and it fits perfect) and the 700 Ultra. Is the Large Ultra the same, or is it slightly bigger?
I'm 6'1 so fit exactly within both their height recommendation. However, the recommended leg measurement for the 700 is 33-34.5" compared to the Triban's recommendation of 32.5-33.5". My inside leg measures just about 32" so am short for either way.
I only ask as the store is having to order in my size before I upgrade. I'd rather get the correct size in first time!

Not sure if it's of any help, I'm 5'8" with a 30.5 inside leg.
My original T3 was a 54cm and fitted me really well.
When I went to buy my Alur I pointed towards and tried a Medium in store, but wasn't convinced as it felt a bit large, so staff got a Small out of the storeroom, set it up. I felt it fitted much better.
The website sizing chart I looked at later also pointed me to the Small fits a treat.

If you look on the Decathlon website at pictures of all of their road bikes you can see the difference in frame shape. Look at the top tubes of the Triban and the Ultra and you can see one slopes down and the other is more bulbous. I believe that's the reason for the difference in different height/leg recommendations.
Golden rule is if in doubt then go smaller.

I tried a Large last night and it was too big, I could barely stand over the top tube! I'm going to head along to a different store in Surrey Quays tomorrow as they have a couple of Mediums in stock to try out. The Large Triban was almost perfect for me, so goes to show that not all bikes are the same, even if they are the same brand!
