I've worn the arse out of my previous offerings from Aldi/Lidl so need some new ones. What are the members using with success and what would you avoid like the plague? I won't be buying Aldi/Lidl this time as although they were good value the pad and fit were naff such that I had bib shorts underneath them anyway. I will be soldiering on with leg warmers for now. No Rapha/Castelli suggestions please

decathlon for me, think there the 500's. Not the ones with the windstopper material on the thighs, found them too restrictive and uncomfortable.

You say no Castelli, but my Nanoflex leg warmers are so good I've never had any need for longs so works out cost effective if you have a lot of bib shorts.

There's nowt wrong with the leg warmers I have but moving to bib longs gets rid of 2 sets of leg grippers. It's a comfort thing.

How are your superhero pads Rocket ? If good then why not get winter versions from Aliexpress. I found the Aliexpress bib tights pad ok for a couple of hours in the saddle at most. I have a couple of pairs of Btwin Aerofit 700s from a couple of years ago - Bought in the sales after winter. They are much, much better. Really warm in the cold and water resistant.

SuperHero pads are fine. I'm knocking out 100 milers no problem but one thing I notice is the legs are short on me as I have a small waist whilst being tall resulting in me easily fitting in medium. I'm reluctant to get bib longs from Ali as I fully expect there to be a gap between the top of my overshoes and the bottom of the longs. I want zip bottoms too rather than stirrups as I prefer to wear my trollies over me overshoes for added waterproofing.

The 500 bibtights are great value for money, they have zipped leg bottoms and they are nicely tight round the ankles, Very well priced also. I have worn them down around 4Β° this year and they are fine. I also have some 700 bibtights with windblock material on the legs and they were fine below freezing last year.

I do wear the 700 ones and have 2 pairs (in 2 different colours). I don't have issues with the flexibility that richardw mentioned... though I've worn them a lot, so maybe they've freed up? I find them flexible for temperature, certainly fine 10-0C, and I've worn them at -6C with a baselayer leggings on under (was hard to get on comfortably though). The wind proofing on the thighs is great, at speed, that really matters, and you are at speed a lot (as I guess, am I). They are also a bit water resistant on the thighs, certainly enough that getting totally soaked last Christmas didn't stop me pressing on for 100 miles alone. With that and my BTwin aerofit jacket, I'm perfectly set for long days in the saddle like Saturday.

i dont wear or own leg warmers, pointless to me. bib shorts or bib tights I have a pair of PlanetX thermal bibtights without the pad as i prefer to wear my funkier shorts under. I have had these bibtights for 2 years now and the best Β£20 i have spent.
