Hi Tribe, As it says in the title, I'd love to hear your recommendations. I currently still have the same MET helmet with a peak that I bought in 2008. Time to replace it for a road helmet sold without a peak.
Sadly, as I don't want to appear like a Twin 'shell suit' (clad head to foot in the brand) that rules out the decathlon range. That does annoy me because they look decent and as usual represent value for money. I'm not a fashion guru but I do think the fashion police exist (just like the fairies in my garden) so I want to be a bit careful.
Having spent a few evenings browsing, its getting more confusing if anything....
All ideas welcome. The ones that have grabbed me so far are Giro Savant Lazer O2 Lazer Genesis Mavic Askium Elite
But I really don't have much of a clue how they price them. The only feature that shouts at me is the rear light on the rolflex thingy on the Lazers and MIPS which I don't feel is totally necessary.
Thanks already!!

I started with a Giro Savant which I found to be a very good helmet. I've recently changed to a Kask Mojito. Reason for the change was that the Giro was just slightly too big for me.
The Kask is light and well ventilated and can be picked up for about £80 if you shop around. The fit is good and there is what they call an 'Up & Down' system which cradles the back of the head which feels very secure and unlikely to move if you are unfortunate enough to impact with anything. The leather chin strap is also comfortable.
Nothing wrong with the Giro Savant though and I think it's a bit cheaper than the Kask.
Just my opinion mind...others may have different experiences with the others on your list.

Like my cratoni c bolt was £40 on offer. The pads are on last legs, unable to find replacement, I mail to enquire about stockists. They sending me free new pads. Great German service.

Shame you rule the Btwin Helmet, it's saved my face twice, and spectacular value for money.
I never took a photo of the one I melted using the tarmac.

Agreed, I'm more than capable of annoying myself like that. If I had Btwin Bike and helmet...no problem. If I had (and do have) Btwin bike and clothing ... no problem. But the full set irks me somewhat. I'm not bothered about seeing others in matching sets though.

Just my opinion mind...others may have different experiences with the others on your list. I went for the Kask Mojito in the end. I read a lot of good reviews after your recommendation here and many of those spoke of ultimate comfort and tangible quality. So after shopping around a bit, in my very popular size the best deal I found was £90 free delivery. I wasn't sure about the company having never heard of them before (acycles.co.uk) even though it all looked fine on the webpage, so I got it price matched by Cycle Surgery. Only after that did I find other reviews that criticised the clash with sun glasses on the cradle at the back..... For a moment I thought here we go again..... Anyway it arrived today and it fits great, it seems very comfortable walking around indoors like a plonker much to the amusement of my 10 year old. The biggest plus is that I have no issue with my sun glasses. I understand why it may be a problem for some sun glasses but with the cradle tightened nice and comfortable there is no issue. Also its nice to be in the middle of the sizing range instead at one end. In a lot of other makes I would have been torn between 2 sizes. So far so good.
