Hi all, first post.
Had my 500SE for 2 months now. Was just wondering what type of handlebar tape comes as standard? This is my first road bike so I have no reference as to the quality of the stuff that comes fitted out of the shop.
Thanks in advance.

I think it is black. Dont even think about changing it while you learn not to hit the deck as I found it perfectly adequate for 17,000 miles. Only changed mine when I changed the whole groupset.

Stupid really, but this is one of the reasons that I have been reluctant to change the group set on the T5. I like the handlebar tape and don't want to muck it up! I'd be quite interested to know the details (beyond black) of the tape, a quality comparison and what to get to replace it if I did a group set change or if I scuff it. Good question supers .

I'm a HUGE fan of Radial cycles Grippy tape.

I often use Deda tape which you can often get fairly cheaply and is a similar synthetic Cork to standard 500se. The microfiber tape sold in Decathlon is more durable and easier to clean but less grippy particularly when wet. The gel tape from Decathlon is good and easy to reposition if you're new to wrapping, the gel on the back is like the stuff holding your new bank card to the letter.
