This bike served me well for 3 years until I inherited a beautiful blue Cannondale road bike from the early 2000s. Unfortunately the Cannondale was about 3 inches too big for me even with a shorter, flipped stem and riding it for even short distances was agonising. The red Triban 3 is a near perfect fit for me and I've never experienced any discomfort from riding it (although I did have to swap the stem for an 80mm one). I've always considered upgrading it but didn't have the money or the justification for a new groupset and pair of wheels. In the end I decided to cannibalise the Cannondale and swap over most of the parts. The only original parts of the red Triban 3 are now the frame, the forks and the handlebars. The groupset is an odd mix of older 105 shifters, chainset and front derailleur while the cassette and rear derailleur is Deore LX. The original owner of the Cannondale was not a good climber apparently, but everything shifts smoothly. The wheels are Mavic CXP 23, and even though they're old they're a big improvement over the stock wheels. I was very hesitant to use them because they're bright blue, but I don't think they clash too badly. Although I'm sad the Cannondale wasn't a good fit I'm glad to be back riding a bike that doesn't kill my shoulders and wrists!

I just love the looks of the older chainsets.
