Hi guys i started this cycling melarky as recovery from an ACL rupture and torn meniscus. 2 years 2 the day i injured it i now find the back of my knee clicks on every forward step when i fully extend my leg.
It causes no great pain but feels weird and happens almost every step (not uphill prob not fully extending)
Physio i spoke to thinks it might be politeal related and it may just settle down.
should i bin the bike for a while or just keep going

Probably best following the physio's advice than any we can give although I would recommend spinning easy gears at a higher cadence to avoid straining the knees.

I've had a 'grindy' knee for the past two years. It sounds similar. I've always had popping joints, knees crack when I bend down or squat. It's never caused any pain but the grinding knee sounds pretty bad as I go upstairs but as I said it's never caused any proper pain.
Spinning easy gears was recommended to me, particularly during the early part of a ride until everything has warmed up nicely. I was told mine was more cartilage wear and that there really was very little that could be done. I take bone/joint supplements like glucosamine tablets. TBH, I didn't think they did any good but I didn't notice that when I stopped taking them that the noise became more prominent again.
Apart from every step forward, have you checked how the knee reacts on each revolution of the pedals? If you hold the knee does it also click on each revolution?
