Thought i'd post up about the recent bike fitting i got, suffering for a few months with pain in my right knee, anything from a wee niggle to were it was painful kneeling down, trying a lot of adjustments myself in order to save myself some money, thing is, my knee usually was fine on the bike! its when walking, going down stairs and kneeling that it had its most pain and it was not always in the same spot, anyway it got to the point were i was gonna spend Β£80 for a 2 hour 30 min session in the hope that it would get rid of my plight and get me on the bike pain free.
So i was told to bring both bikes down but he would do a proper fit on my Vitus and then get the T3a as near as possible to it, bike was set up on a turbo trainer and was told to peddle away while he videod me from the side for about 10/15 mins all the while controlling the tension on the trainer, then a vid from the front angle, made some adjustments but said that i had it pretty much spot on with saddle hieght/for/aft and cleat position, then he showed me the video (front angle) and noticed that both my knees were shooting outwards at the top of the upstroke, now i always thought i had a good straight peddling stroke looking down at my legs, funny what you can see from a diff angle, he told me to concentrate on bring my knees up and inline with my armpits and gave me some exercises to do to loosen up my hips, tbh i haven't done any of the exercises but i will, i'm hoping the knee shooting out on upstroke is/was the problem, i have been out on the T3 past few weeks and keeping the knees inline, still getting a few niggles here and there but most of the pain has gone, didn't know what to expect from a bike fit @ Β£80 but if it does make the pain go away it will be well worth it.
