Just got my red Triban on a turbo trainer again to do a bit of training over the winter. Thought I would have another crack at sorting the gears as have never been 100% happy with them. I noticed the bottom 2 cogs on the cassette have a noticeable buckle/wobble. Is this normal? Do others also find the front changer just about changes up to the largest chainwheel? It seems as though it's at the maximum of its extension. I'm thinking of upgrading the chainset and wondered if a slightly shorted bottom bracket will make the change better and avoid a bit of chinking on top gear. Decathlon did change the bottom bracket just after I got it due to bearing noise and wonder if they fitted the right one.

Is the "front changer" at it's actual limit or just the current limit set by the end point screw ?
The two smallest gears on the cassette could be miss seated - might be worth removing the lock ring and making sure they are fully seated before replacing the lock ring.

The front changer has no more movement with the stop screw wound right out. I will have a look at the cassette. Assume you need a special tool to remove the cassette lock ring?

Chain whip tool and castellated wrench, sometimes also put on rigging gloves if needing to use force (pretty tight that ring sometimes and hand slip punctures best avoided).

If cable tension and limit screws are ok on front mech, then it may be a case of tweaking the entire mech position. Done via loosening off the clamp and twisting it just a tad, so the rear of the mech is moved outwards a bit. Height should be just above big ring by 1 or 2 mm but adjust with shifter on granny ring, so you're not wrestling against cable tension.
