Previously had the Btwin speed and Cadence sensors which I use when on the turbo trainer to link to Ant+ stick in laptop to show speed/cadence etc. This used a magnet and although signal occasionally dropped out for a second or 2 overall it was very good. However accidentally forgot to remove the sensor when went outside for a ride and hit a bump which pushed the sensor into the rear spokes (needs to be close to detect the magnet). Hence horrid noise, shards to plastic and one very broken speed sensor! As I needed a quick replacement to continue my turbo training and Mecca seem to have stopped selling the Btwin sensors I splashed out and bought the new garmin ones: www.wiggle.co.uk/garmin-speed-cadence-sensor/Used them last night and must admit I was impressed. No magnets, they use acceleration meters to detect rotations, hence no need for sensors close to spokes on on chainstay. Simply use elastic band to attach speed sensor to hub of rear wheel and another band to attach cadence sensor to crank arm and done. Took 30 seconds in total and worked perfectly with no signal drop outs at all. Not cheap but excellent and certainly recommended if plan on moving them between different bikes as so quick and easy to move.

Yep - very good. Have a cadence on both bikes and occasionally swap the speed sensor over to the commuter bike if i remember.

Have them on my 'Dale and the older ones on my Triban 3, the newer ones are a lot less fiddly (hassle free)

I've got the newer ones and they are a lot less hassle, but I sometimes have issues with the sensors timing out during a ride if I'm inactive for a period. For example, on a couple of TTs this year I would do my warm up and the sensors would pair fine, but then waiting at the start line with no movement for 3-5 mins would cause them to drop out, and my Garmin would revert to displaying GPS speed and cadence wouldn't be recorded, as the cadence sensor would wake up after I started riding, which was after I'd start recording on the Garmin.
On other rides after I stop for cafes / top of hills to contain the vom I notice I sometimes have null periods of zero cadence for a few minutes after I start moving again. Can be a bit frustrating as I never had these sorts of issues with the magnet sensors.

Maybe the batteries are running low denkfaul ? I have recently noticed this happening with mine but never noticed it when they were new so I am beginning to wonder if the battery is starting to go.

It was only a couple days old when I first noticed it, so it shouldn't be the battery. Googling shows a few other people with similar troubles. Something to keep in mind if people are thinking of picking this up.
