ok where do I start my reason for getting back into cycling 10 months ago ankle / knee / back injuries plus bulk meant running was too impacting on joints and back so I seen sense sold the motor bike and bought the hybrid. enjoyed the cycling from a fitness and stress relief point of view. now im using the cycling days as cardio and leg days and trying to keep up with my training routine im starting to feel overtrained and need to get a bit more sleep to recover im also not progressing with resistance training. more than probably suffering in that department Am I starting to have cardio(cycling) work against my resistance training and vise versa? Am I better sticking a bias with one or the other e.g 70% effort into cycle and 30% effort into weights? Am I just getting old (35) sorry for the daft questions but I go training solo and cant just start asking dumb questions to strangers face to face lol

Important not to over train. I was out on the bike six days in a row last week and performance was dropping off towards the end. I wanted to head out today but forced myself to take the day off. Will hopefully see the benefits tomorrow. Most things I have read training wise recommend two rest days per week.

In my limited experience there's nothing wrong with mixing things up with some resistance training but maybe give the legs a lighter load or a rest on at least some of those workouts when working other main muscle groups. That way you get the variety (and useful core stability) and your legs get the rest they need. Remember a decent ride is a resistance work out for the legs as well as a cardio type workout for the heart and lungs.
