So I was having some problems with shifting with the front derailleur, so I went on YouTube to watch some videos on how to adjust it... I was following GCN's video, but instead of just changing the two little screws (I forgot the names.), I decided to do everything the guy said, so changing the height and such... Now I'm stuck in the middle gear. I can't shift up, when I try it just grinds against the top cog. Shifting down pretty much makes it so the middle cog is perfect. Being in the middle gear on the shifter makes a slight grinding noise.
The indexing screws or whatever they are called do not make a difference unless I shift down to the lowest gear, but they only move the derailleur cage a tiny amount before stopping. I've tried changing the tension, but it confuses me. Should there still be tension when it's in the lowest gear? I'm not really mechanically clever so I'm clueless of where I even begin now; it's my first time doing this.
Can I just reset everything and start over with a step by step guide at all?

Best thing is to start again from scratch and work through the video step by step. There are numerous videos on you tube and it's worth watching a few to find one that seems clear I use this one Also worth reading through Sheldon Browns thoughts on the subject. The FD adjustment is one that takes most people a few goes to get right.

It sounds like you have insufficient tension in the cable.

I just love you tube....lol..... loads of my customers have played by using the channel then fail and come and pay me.... lol.. Seriously.... any Front Mech issues, aside of position is cable tension...
Just done one today (not on a Triban, but a Ridgeback MTB running Sram) the guy had been to Halfrauds & Rutland Cycling who both fobbed him off saying it was okay.... then he found me by chatting to another biker... Dunno which one, but one said they had set up the rear mech and the other told him the front mech was "in specifications"... I found a bent rear mech (now replaced) and a front mech way out of position as it was too high so the chain was running on the mech.... so a full reset front and rear mechs, he text me a few moments ago on a 26 miler from here to a reservoir and back...he's out there on the reservoir and so happy all is silent all works and it's all dialled in.... another happy customer...
