My old hub gear bike has finally given up the ghost - had it 9 years, so not all bad! I also have a Triban 7 which i use as my road bike I have some choices, I can either: Resurrect it from the death by dropping c.Β£200 on it and fixing the thing, but I fancy a new bike... Use the Triban 7 for commuting (it can mount a pannier and mudguards) and buy a higher end road bike - I like the Mach 720, Alur is much the same as my triban 7. Problem is it costs a grand Buy a triban 540 flat bar (just seen this today) tiagra, pannier mounts, mudguard mounts, upright position and all for Β£500 - it seems to good to be true. Wait for september to enrol on work cycle to work scheme (but I'm restricted to halfords ) Wait of one of these mythical ultegra equipped bikes and trade up (again it costs a grand or more) What would you do?

Use the 7 as a stop gap as it's good weather but keep it well cleaned / serviced and buy yourself some time to reach for the stars!

Yeah, that was my other thought - I'm commuting on the Triban now, but is there any liklihood of these ultegra models hitting decca anytime soon?
The 540 looks great as a commuter - can fit 28c tyres too.
