I went to purchase the Alur 700 but the chap at Decathlon told me I was a medium. Previously, another chap, told me I was a small. Both feel good but I seem to have more control over the small. I'm 171cm tall. Should I go for the small? Unfortunately, Decathlon have no size guide for the S, M, L or XL road bikes.

Anyone got a geometery? I'm 171cm too and run a 54 T3 and a 53 Rose and I think they are bang on.

A bike that's a bit too small can generally be made to fit, with longer stem etc. However it's a lot harder with a frame that's too big to begin with.

Alur The 54cm should be bang on for 171cm (about 5ft7). Am about 5ft11 and the size 57 Triban 3 is a good fit for me. The info below is from the B’TWIN Road Bike Size Guide:
The Alur frame is all-new for 2015 and used on the Alur 700. The frame will be available in five sizes, ranging from XS to XL.
Size Height Inside Leg Length XS 155 – 170cm (5’1” – 5’7”) 69.0 – 78.2cm (27” – 31”) S 165 – 175cm (5’6” – 5’9”) 74.5 – 81.0cm (29” – 32”) M 173 – 183cm (5’8” – 6’0”) 80.0 – 85.5cm (31” – 34”) L 180 – 188cm (5’11” – 6’2”) 84.0 – 88.0cm (33” – 35”) XL 186 – 198cm (6’1” – 6’6”) 87.0 – 95.0cm (34” – 37”)

P.S. I was in Decathlon at the weekend and had a look at the Alur and for the money looks an awesome road bike and Shimano 105 groupset for the price is good as this is usually found on bikes costing around the grand price range.

Is the derailleur hanger replaceable on the ALUR 700?

Would rather hope so, or it ain't nearly the bargain it looks. there are so many different shapes and sizes I'd ring decathlon's workshop and see if they can get you one.

Is the Alur 700 fully upgradeable? I've noticed it has a square seat post. Would this be easy to replace?

Everything is replaceable. How do you think they built it up in the first place? From boxes of bits and that includes the mech hanger and seat post.

I see. Well for manufacturer specific parts you need to go cap in hand to Decathlon. Not everything is on the shelves so approach the guys in the workshop and they should be able to order in whatever you need. These would only be like for like replacement parts though.

Square seat post? Troll alert - as the Chemical Brothers say '... my finger is on the button ...' . Curious set of questions fadsarmy - no offense but they're reading like a wind up.

I did wonder and the best pics I could find showed a round seat post and tube. Hoping an owner would knock this one on the head. Square peg, round hole...?
