Hi, sorry, I've no experience with Mio Cyclo 505 HC, here where I live MIO is not popular and also that kind of cyclo computer.
a curiosity, what functions are you interested in?
why not a phone for navigation and a basic computer for cadence, heart rate, etc.? it could be 3-400 euros cheaper :-)

Thanks for your reply I used my phone for a while but the battery life is shocking and only lasts a couple of hours so was looking at going down the gps computer route. I also travel abroad a lot and take my bike with me so need european mappinf as well as for the uk. Thank you for your comments though its nice to see that posts get read nd people are willing to help out where they can.
Cheers Stu

I bought a garmin 800 a few weeks back and love it, great navigation, has all the usual data you need speed distance elevation ect, battery life is amazing, free maps via open street maps, easy to use functions once you get the hang of it, the garmin connect website is a shabbles and so is the customer support but you don't need that site as there are others like ridewithgps and strava ect , quick google found the Mio 505 HC to be very expensive compared to the garmin 800 which is around Β£200 or less

MIO 505HC Update: It's up and running after a lengthy firmware update it connects wirelessly to the net for updates etc and allows routes to be logged and share on the mio site. I have not tried to connect to strava yet but then again I never used that before so dont know if I will in the future. As for mapping all is good it gets me out and back with no problems so far, the suprise me feature works well. So a week in I'm happy with it.

Latest trip with the MIO 505Hc on my bars saw me getting out to North Wales and back with no dramas. The turn by turn navigation is excellent and the data from the the HRM and cadence meter give any stats junkie enough to go at. The wireless syncro function is brill and I can upload my trips to the mioshare page without switching on my computer. Battery lasts an age and that is without dumbimg down the standard settings for brightness etc. Would I recommend one to a mate? We for the cheap as chips price of Β£259 complete with all the extras your dead right I would.

Latest update the more i use the MIO the more I like it. Been using the suprise me feature and to be honets have had some brilliant rides. It selects bike friendly routes and is spot on for accuracy it hasnt taken me down any blind alleys one way streets the wrong way or any cycle routes that arent suited to a road bike. Just out of interest I linked my mio account to strava and it uploads routes to it faultlessly.
