For those using a Garmin and Garmin Connect, the switch over to the 'modern' UI appears to have started. Still trying to figure out how to navigate it but I quite like the look so far.
When they roll out the Garmin Connect segments I can see me ditching Strava altogether.

I wish Garmin would team with Strava instead of competing! and concentrate on making a head unit that has everything on it, and make it cheap enough, say sub Β£100. they would sell 50 million!

You don't want much do you? They used to be quite cosy (Garmin and Starva) but it would appear that's at an end. I've a very long list of issues with Strava so it's quite nice to have this as an alternative.

No change for me yet on Garmin Connect but looking forward to it.
One minor thing I hope they have updated it the personal records. I'd really like to be able to have running goals in kilometers and Cycling goals in miles. Would also like the ability, currently on Strava, to upload manual activities like swimming. Garmin Connect also currently does some daft things when you drill into data analysis using the filters then go back, i.e. it forgets what filters you applied.

ohoward, can you please help as I can't see how to do it.
When I click on the upload button, there is an option there to manually upload. When I click that I'm taken to a page where it wants me to upload .tcx .gpx or .fit files from my PC. My data is not in any of those files as it is was not recorded on any device. For example I swam 2k this morning and on Strava I can upload that as a manual entry without linking to any data source. Is that possible on Garmin Connect?

When at the dashboard, go to analyze > activities. There should be a green plus symbol with 'manual activity' next to at the top right-ish of the screen, fill in the details and save.

The Garmin segments feature is now live - leaderboards show wind direction and speed which I think is brilliant.

Sorry for hijack but relevant question. Do any Garmin devices allow wireless upload of activities or does it always require connecting to a computer via a cable?

Think I'm being a dope, where are the segments ohoward? Are you on the 'modern' Garmin Connect al? If so it should be pretty apparent when you look at an activity, just under the map. It's a blank slate so you'll have to start making the segments which is great - no more seggies through red lights, no more seggies 20 yards long and as it is all based on data from a Garmin no more dodgy data claiming a flat road is a 4th cat climb!

Think I must still be on the old version. I can only see the charts section, with timings and elevation data, under the maps.
Look forward to trying the segments on Garmin especially if they (garmin) enforce minimum distances for segments. I find the Strava ones a bit glitchy at times and find I record different segments for the same ride on Strava mobile and the Garmin 200 (think it depends on the device used to record the segment).
