All this down time due to injury is really doing my head in. The main problem is my left thigh has a rather large tear in the muscle causing the outer thigh to develop a big bag of blood (The medical term is a hematoma) which won't go away. Quite the opposite in fact. I keep tearing the muscle causing more bleeding and further inflating the bag of blood. The first week or so I only had to stand up or turn over in bed and the thigh would go again. Since then I have been ultra careful to try and protect it and fingers crossed it hasn't ripped for a couple of days. The doctor won't drain it for fear of infection.
Anyway.... the injury time thread. I'm injured and having a right boring time of it so I've started to occupy myself to keep things ticking over.
As some of you know, I am due to retire soon so I thought it a good idea to begin a cycling blog that will include my rides, tours and experiences in my retirement years. I have had a great time getting out on tours in the past but to a large extent neglected to put them down in writing which is regrettable. This is about to change and my Wordpress blog is now in its infancy. I will use this blog to record my ideas leading up to retirement and detail what I would like to do in future years with regards to cycling. I will hopefully progress some of those ideas and turn them in to reality. I am sure looking back on my ideas in the future I will chuckle at some of the cloud cuckooland ideas and pipedreams but hopefully some of those aspirations will bear fruit.
To that extent I have bought a few books for future planning. Top 100 greatest UK climbs and the follow up Another 100 greatest Uk climbs. I am also intending buying "Mountain High" and "Mountain Higher" by Daniel Friebe which are highly respected books that detail the biggest and best climbs in Europe. I love watching the pro's climb all those famous routes in the TDF, Giro and Vuelta and would now like a piece of the action, albeit at a much slower rate of ascent.

So rather than sitting here stewing, I am making the most of my injury time and to be honest it is all rather exciting. It keeps the smile on my face if nothing else.
Ciao..!!
