Cycling Active review the 500SE this month (March 2014). Interesting review, but:- "And this is why (weight of 10.6kg) the B'Twin is not a giant killer. It'll take on and beat many bikes twice or three times the price, but ultimately , those are still lower-priced bikes"! So a £370 bike can beat some bikes between £700 & £1100 and not be a giant killer? What budget would it have to match to be a giant killer £1500, £2000?? As an alternative they suggest a Pinnacle Dolomite 2 at 30% more. This is supposed to be a Kg lighter! The Evans website quotes the 2013 Dolomite 2 as 23lbs, which is 6ounces less than the Tribans 10.6kg. As we don't know what frame sizes are being compared, they could very well be a similar weight, so where does a kilo lighter come from?

Have to agree seemed to like the bike but then contradicted himself. Have to ssy it os a smart looking machine. Another reason to get to Decathlon just to have a look like.

DelB think they will be popular enough. I quite like the matching blue accents to the hoods and forks! IMO it helps break up all that black!

I like the blue, I does mean that you have to buy Rapha Team Sky kit to match though...

Still not as good value as the old 'red' 3 in my opinion though.

It's almost as if the paragraph mentioned was written and inserted by a completely different (and bitter) person. Also strange was the "if you want to do a TdF or win national titles you have to move up the range". Er, wtf?

Was a strange write up, when I started to read it I thought he was giving the bike another thumps up?? Not sure towards the end. Think he / She must have had mixed feelings.

Seriously think that Decathlon must put large amounts of money in the magazine and the reviewer is allowed to let the snobbery show right through the review. Imsgine having to ride a cheap (er) bike.

Decathlon advertise, but so do the makers of the bikes double or treble the price of the 500SE. Their combined advertising budget might dwarf Decathlons? How would another glowing Triban review go down in the Advertising department?

I got the impression he didn't want to like it but couldn't fault it for the price.
Has anyone found them in store yet? I keep looking online but not showing yet.
