Welcome along Mick, there's a few of the cabin crew already on board ... they're always welcome.

Welcome @kevinho. Good choice. You should only need a 5mm Allen key. Undo the clamp above the top bearing and both bolts on the stem clamp then tighten the bolt in the cap a little. With the front brake applied you should feel the play disappear. Just enough but not so much that the steering goes stiff. You want the wheel to flop to each side when you lean it over with the wheel in the air. Now tighten the clamp above the top bearing, centre the handlebars and tighten both bolts on the stem clamp. Job should be a good un.

Found through Google after purchasing the Triban 500SE. Not had a bike for a long time so I thought I would start with the cheaper option, especially seeing as there seems to be so many accessories that are required for riding,

Likewise and i am well aware of the work that goes on behind the scene which keeps the site clean and healthy. There's a bit of banter goes on but it's all good fun. The info you mentioned isn't only for those new to the world of cycling even an old timer like me can still learn a lot from what's shared proving you can teach an old dog new tricks. Enjoy the journey...
