Alton Towers has become vastly overpriced IMO.
It's a good theme park, possibly the best in the country but it's hellishly expensive to get in and once you're in they stil try and squeeze more dosh out of you with the food and drink type stuff. Add to that the crazy queueing and for me it's a total turn off.
Been a few times over the years when the kids were younger but it gets a wide berth from me now. (Grumpy tight Yorkshireman!)

Very true, must add up when you got a few kids to shell out for! The price can be justified and I wouldn't mind once a year pop but the queues is what kills me.
Think a few friends are planning a trip to Thorpe Park. I have not been there in a few years so hope it's still half decent when I'm taking a day off work.

for a similar experience and massive saving in money... charge your kids £10 each to stand in front of the washing machine for an hour before you throw them in for 2 minutes then charge them £5 for an awful burger. They'll love you for it!

Been a few times and buy the tickets using tesco vouchers - makes it a LOT cheaper! Also done the same with legoland and longleat this year (if I remember right it was £8 of tesco vouchers per person for longleat - compared to £30 odd if bought ticket on the day)
Worth a look if want to go
