It appears my phone battery isn't up to the job of tracking some of my longer rides so can anyone suggest some dedicated cycling computers with GPS in the £100-£150 price range please?
I already have the Count14 which is great but no GPS. I assume I can use its sensors with any ANT+ compatable computer?
All I need are GPS (for upload to Strava via .gpx) cadence and speed really. Anything else a bonus.
Cheers.

I can only tell you what I've got, and that's a Garmin Edge 205. I bought it on ebay 2nd hand. No problems, it does what it's supposed to do and does it well. Think I paid about £70
My lad bought a garmin Edge 305 the same way. he paid a bit more for that one as it's higher spec (cadence sensor option in there) He did have problems because the battery loses contact when you go over bumps and so the unit switches off momentarily and the loses some of your ride. I fixed it by soldering the battery terminals to the contacts.

I'm looking at Catseye Stealth 50, looks like it's do what you'd want and is £79.99 at Wiggle. The Count 14 ANT+ sensors ought to work fine with it.

Thanks, both of you.
The Cateye Stealth 50 is one of options I already have picked out. Just wondered if I was missing anything.

Try the Holux gpsport 245 or 260, I have both, the 260 pro has heart monitor connect ability and cadence too , awesome for the money....,245 approximate £60 and £100 for the 260

I have an Edge 500. It's great but sometimes takes ages to get a fix and can be slow at times updating the map. Missed a turn on Sunday, I was leading the club and instantly got demoted

One interesting point about dedicated gps computers vs phones is the assisted GPS issue with phones. When you have zero reception and wifi the phones fail. Up in the highlands I did a good route but there where no Strava segments at all on a 15 mile stretch. I think this is why. The mountain rescue warn people heading up Ben Nevis not to use smartphones for navigation

Yes, my mate said this happens quite a lot, just just miss the turn and then it updates.

I shared that from a forum post on here, it's gone full circle! I believe the credit should go to acd1055 for pointing that one out though. I've managed to persuade the OH to get me it for my birthday as an early present now too, don't know why it's been down voted loads on there mind (last time I try and share a deal with someone else, other than here of course!).

It can take a bit longer mind (as in a couple of minutes) but it does find your location. I do have the problem of the apps wearing my battery out within a couple of hours, but I'm wondering whether getting one of the midriad of budget phones (ie a huawei vision for £50 from Phones 4 U) would do the job better and cheaper than the GPS loggers?
