Quick thanks to red leader for allowing me to suggest this Help For Heroes - Hero Ride 2014
This year I took part in the hero ride 2013 it was very emotional. There were teams from all over the world doing rides in from as far as Germany and Italy .
Anyway this got me thinking oh dear i hear you say! , do we think we can we get together and enter next years Hero Ride 2014 as "TRIBAN OWNERS CLUB TEAM" , "TEAM TRIBAN" or just "THE 357's".
I know we are quite split up but maybe we could have separate meet points where the different areas could meet together to cycle as a group and then all meet at one point say in surrey quays (there's a Mecca there!) then cycle in to the grouping area together. I live about 10 miles from the meet point but would be very happy to get the train somewhere up country to an organised meet point and cycle in from there. The grouping stage point this year was blackheath in London where we were provided with a very substantial breakfast and given enough bottles of water or Lucozade to sink a submarine! Lots of facilities were provided including a sports massage. Also snacks and drinks for your forward ride on were available this was also free. It was amazingly friendly and everyone wanted to help everyone else
The ride into horse guards parade was quite slow about an average of 8mph ,a few places we had to stop due to bottlenecks in the roads but there were police escorts also ambulances and bike mechanics all ready if we needed them. All met in the staged area when we had finished and had more refreshments thrust upon us so we could get fluids and sugar levels back up.
All in all it was a very positive experience and I feel I played my part this year , I thought it would be a good way of raising money for a very worthy cause and a chance for us to actually meet each other ! Not to mention promote the forum and website to a new level ! Can we really all turn up with the TOC jerseys on ?!?
The link is here for the website to register your interest!

I'll leave it there with the poll and well it's up to you to take control .I hope there will be lots of discussions and who's meeting with who and where? .......but that's the fun of it !
Thanks for reading Spoakes

My plan is to do this this next year and maybe the France to London one the year after. Perhaps it could be a yearly event that we do? All for a good cause.

Help for heroes ride 2014
The ride for help for heroes has been set for the 8th of June 2014, interest for this needs is being registered now!
There are a few pre organised routes to get to London.
Join us on the Dragon Dash!
The first Hero Ride to start in Wales, this 170 mile route leaves from vibrant Cardiff and then heads due east to London, crossing the mighty River Severn. After a night in the historic market town of Chippenham, we ride alongside some of our wounded servicemen and women, through the scenic Home Counties before arriving at Blackheath Common for the exciting climax of the ride when we join the other routes to cycle en mass through London!
Join us on the Northern Flyer!
From the start point in bustling Manchester the route heads south through the beautiful Peak District, stopping overnight near the impressive Tutbury Castle, before we visit the National Memorial Arboretum – the UK’s Centre of Remembrance – to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Cycling with wounded servicemen and women, the route then continues along the quiet roads of Leicestershire, chocolate box villages of Northamptonshire and charming towns of Hertfordshire, before reaching Blackheath where we unite with the other rides for the epic finish in London.
Tartan Express!
The longest leg of Hero Ride 2014 departs from beautiful Edinburgh and covers 440 miles traveling almost the entire length of the country, so be prepared for some long days in the saddle! The route has a military theme passing by Army and RAF bases including Catterick Garrison, home to Phoenix House, one of our regional Recovery Centres, and you'll be riding alongside some of the guys and gals who have benefitted from the help offered here and at our other recovery centres. The scenery will take your breath away, as you pass Roman ruins and castles by the Scottish Borders, cross over the historic Hadrian's Wall and take on the beautiful and challenging Yorkshire Dales en route to the grand finale in London.
The Dawn Raid
Due to the popularity of the Dawn Raid, it will be returning as part of Hero Ride once again! In keeping with the military tradition, the route will set off from the Help for Heroes run Recovery Centre at Tedworth House in Wiltshire, where wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women are helped with their recovery. This 100-mile sportive will take 250 riders through Wiltshire, Hampshire and Surrey to the iconic Box Hill, retracing the tracks of the London 2012 Olympic Road Race heroes, before taking a turn into south London and dropping to the meeting point at Blackheath Common before cycling into London with all the other Hero Riders!
Become a Puffing Pedaller!
Following much of the same picturesque route as the Dawn Raid sportive, this ride from Tedworth is still a challenge, just one that we will take on at a more relaxed pace! You will cover 100 miles over two days, riding through picturesque Wiltshire, Hampshire and Surrey - where we will take on the iconic Box Hill, retracing the tracks of the London 2012 Olympic Road Race heroes (albeit at a more gentle pace - stopping to admire the view is permitted - and encouraged!), before taking a turn into south London and dropping to Blackheath Common before the grand finale group ride into the city centre!
Or we have the
Organise your own ride!
No set details – you choose the route, the dates and the distance!
Organising your own Hero Ride is an ideal way for individuals, groups of friends or colleagues, and cycling clubs to combine their love of the sport with supporting a great cause. Talk to your local network, nominate a team leader, register yourself with us and we will guide you from there.
You can be part of Hero Ride whatever your age and cycling ability. Whether you're planning to ride 10 miles from Clapham, 100 miles from Coventry or 1,000 from Rome, your effort counts just as much – Hero Ride is all about setting yourself a personal challenge, riding at your own pace and being part of a very special event for Help for Heroes.
There is as always a small charge for going on these charity rides.
Our fundraising targets for this signature challenge are as follows:
Registration fee: £40 (payable upon registration)
Suggested minimum fundraising target: £1 per miles per person
The Hero Ride is our biggest demonstration of support for our wounded and a massive fundraising challenge! Through Hero Ride 2014, our aim is to raise £1.5million to support our wounded for life and your ride plays a big part in helping us to reach that target so thank you for doing your bit.
To make the prospect of fundraising seem less daunting, once you register you will receive lots of advice and support from the team to help you to reach and smash those targets! Don’t forget that our team will be on hand to guide and support you every step of the way.

So there are the options
If we did the DIY ride we could arrange to meet in pockets around the country and then all somewhere closer in London and arrive as one peloton in blackheath.
The points to meet around the country are going to need to be discussed and routes for getting in.
So what do we think are we in ?

I was all up for this....until I got the email from H4H and looked into the details for the Manchester to London ride, they have suggested at fundraising target of £1750 ( my thoughts and opinions aside on targets for a moment) it then goes on to say that £1000 of this needs to be paid by a certain date for the cost of my participation, not for that charitable purposes, but to cover the costs. Multiply this by the thousands of participants across the country, and its a nice little earner for H4H.
Now I am a Vet and I know there is a need for support, but when you dig deep into charities accounts and see how much of the money raised actually goes to the actual purpose (not running the charity) it does really make you wonder.
As far as the fundraising targets, my sister in law did the London Marathon for a different charity, and fell very slightly short of her target, the charity hounded her for nearly a year to get the other £100 or so from her, even threatening to take her to court, im not saying for one moment that H4H would do this, but its another example of why I have had enough of so called charities.
In case you cant tell, the email really upset me

Ok so if we do a DIY one we don't have to sign into their minimum donation. Apart from the £40 registration fee. Then get people to sponsor you it doesn't have to be £1 per mile (it's suggested! )
So if we did our own we could meet say 50, 60 , 70 , 100 miles from London and cycle in from there.
What are the thoughts on that?

I'd be interested although I haven't done anything longer than a 27 mile ride up until now, and am about 110 miles from London/the end point. I know it's still a long way off though, so plenty of time to prepare. Plus nothing to stop me driving/getting the train half way and cycling from there. So, interested but would need more precise details before committing Convenient places for me to start (at various distances from London) would be Coventry, B'ham, Northampton, Banbury, Milton Keynes. Basically anywhere near the M1 or M40 southeast of Birmingham.
