I did the Sora upgrade to my T3, largely for the cosmetic benefit although I do believe that the BB supplied with the T3 is as springy as a fishing rod and the cause of much woe.
Anyway, I had the Ounce set going spare and just sitting in the box that the Sora stuff came in. I took the innermost ring off it to make it just two gears, and then fitted it to my old budget bike. The budget bike cranks are steel and weighed in at around 1.6kg for the set, so fitting the ex-T3 stuff makes the old nail about 700g lighter and they also looked quite nice fitted to it. This is going to be my 'commuter' bike, and the idea is to go to work on it when I feel I'm fit enough to do so without arriving in a wreck, and the weather is OK.
The Ounce gears (anyone else think it looks like Dunce?) work very well on the budget bike which has paddle selectors on the handlebars near the stem, and I can now change the front gear without having to stop and put the chain back on, hurrah!.
This was all done last rainy Wednesday during my weeks hols, and I tried it out by cycling into work the next day just to see how easy it would be to commute by bike. The answer was "not hard at all", in some places it's traffic dodging, but a large part is on dedicated cycle lanes or tarmac canal towpath. Very pleasant in fact.
If the weather continues I could be cycling in this week.

Good work, two people have commented to me that it looks like "Dunce" too! I agree that the bottom bracket is not very stiff, however I have got my front mech set up pretty well so it isn't causing me any major problems, it's just a bit of an annoyance. If it lasts well then all to the better but if it fails I assume Decathlon will replace it under warranty? Do they replace with the same rubbish part or do they fit a nice stiff shimano unit?
Good work on the cycle commute, I started riding to work over 10 years ago whatever the weather, to drive the 3 miles would take around 30-40mins including finding somewhere to park, on my T3 I have been doing it in 11 minutes, it's a no brainer, free and keeps me at a half decent level of fitness. The fuel savings alone are enough to buy me a T3 each year!

Mine is around 9.4 miles, which I think comes to about Β£3 a day in fuel for the return journey. It's not something I fancy doing everyday (read every-weather) and I sometimes have stuff I want to take in/out of work which I can only do via car.
But it's certainly an option and beats the hell out of sitting in traffic. This morning I watched a young lady walking along the pavement for close on a mile, she was in front of me all the way.
Re the BB:- I can't see the original failing, it's quite a solid build. And yes, they will replace it with the same I'm sure.
