I have a BTWin Triban 500 of the kind mentioned here. road.cc/content/tech-news/215949-decathlon-launches-2017-btwin-triban-road-bike-range-new-%C2%A3220-entry-levelLast year I got a great price on the new Shimano 105 groupset and had my local bike shop install it on the Triban. I was delighted with it, but I think I dropped the bike at some point and the rear derailleur is no longer straight. I tried to bend it back but it seems there is no mech hanger. The derailleur is just screwed directly into the frame I think. I called up the bike shop and the guy I spoke to claims this is impossible. Did those bikes originally come with no hanger? In the picture I don't see one we. Either way should the bike shop have added one? Is that even possible?

They don't have a replaceable mech hanger, it's part of the frame so be very careful trying to straighten it if it's bent. This was common on early alloy frames (steel frames are like this as they're easily straightened) and still used for budget frames, the cheapest Decathlon mtb frames are the same.
I was able to salvage an old cyclocross frame a few years ago with careful use of a 'Dremel' to fit a replaceable hanger after snapping it off so it can be done but wasn't easy and I doubt a bike shop would do it for you.

Thanks, Chas, this clears things up. I am not sure if the hanger or the derailleur is bent, but it's not too bad. After some adjustments to the L screw, B screw, and barrel adjuster I have got the shifting running very smoothly. So I think I will leave it and try not to drop the bike again!

Good to hear it, a slight sideways bend of the hanger can be adjusted for, the most important thing is setting the low stop so that the mech can't go into the spokes. If the hanger is slightly twisted you can waste a lot of time trying to index the gears because the cage will move sideways as the mech swings to accommodate different size sprockets.
