I just changed wheelset to Shimano R501's with Shimano hg50 cassette and Kmc 8.93 chain stayed on original tyres, there giving me no probs at the moment done almost 1400 miles and just about to change brake blocks, at the moment its on a turbo trainer, to risky and cold out, i raised the front of the seat up abit as i was getting numb bum and its 100 times better, and Shimano Spd 520's and crud 2 mudgaurds. Im about to strip hubs down on original wheels as they sound really gritty wont know till strip down if knackered, especially the back, also raised the handlebars about a cm as they felt you were pointing downwards and feels loads better, more comfy. I will be putting new wheels on before summer and will change the cassette to sram pg850 I think cos I heard itd quiet and lighter than the shimano

I've replaced the stock tyres with Gatorskins and that's about it. I bought Tortec Road Reflector guards but they don't fit so I'm going to settle for the Crud MkIIs.
Transferred my Magicshine lights and AirZound over from the BSO and got rid of the included front lamp. I moved the rear lamp to the offside seat stay for the time being until I sort out a standalone reflector. Also added the Tortec Ultralite rear rack and removed it again until I get a rack pack sorted.
Will add some SPD pedals in the near future and once the wheels wear themselves out, replace those. When the groupset starts to wear out I'll either upgrade to a Tiagra/105 setup or replace parts like-for-like and get another bike.

Removed the lights and replaced the standard saddle with a Charge Spoon.

I've changed the saddle to a charge spoon, and put shimano 105 pedals on. Just noticed the brake blocks are wearing really badly in the last couple of days, anyone tried any different blocks?

I have to confess to having replaced quite a but since I bought my triban 3 some 5 months ago, but it has done some distance and is used as a commuter bike in all weathers.
First to be changed were the pedals before I had even ridden the bike. Bell, Decathlon lights & wheel reflectors were also ditched. wheel reflectors were replaced with 3M spoke reflectors which I personally prefer. I added on my own light brackets because I just switch my lights between bikes as needed. next was the brake pads for something that stopped in the wet plus the addition of some cross levers to assist with braking. new shorter stem & narrow bars followed soon after which necesitated new bar tape as well in an attempt to get more comfortable - that worked well. Pannier rack & mud guards plus 2 bottle cages and pump mounting soon followed as did a cyclo cadence meter. repeats on new pedals have also done twice and now a new chain... oh and at some point I changed the tyres but can't remember when now.
It is still recogniable as a T3 honest!

The shorter Ritchey stem I bought turned out to be fake! eBayers beware. So the stock longer stem is back on will the Deda one I've ordered from CRC arrives. Also ordered some Conti Gator Skins. Must stop spending!

Also ordered some Conti Gator Skins. Must stop spending! Easier said than done stupot! I've practiced great restraint recently. Sure, I've scoured the net looking for bargains and "nice to haves" Unfortunately Mrs Redleader often hovers over the shoulder and grounds me! I did manage to buy a new cycling jersey and floor pump though in the last week. ;D

Newbie here, Is there any real benefit to the 30mm R501s over the standard R501s? Thanks Geoff -

The only thing i can say is they are better at soaking up the bad bits on the road and they will stay truer for longer, i have done quite a few miles since iv had them and they are still running true and still spin forever.
