Out of stock at Decathlon ( chas - would you be able to check if likely to come back in?) and doesn't seem to be anywhere else in the UK selling them.
I believe there is some compatibility between Microshift and Shimano - can folk confirm if any Shimano triple shifter would match the existing Microshift front derailleur (this is the 8-speed setup fitted to 2017 model Triban 500) ?
Thanks, Scott.

There are a few stores with them in stock, you might be able to get one sent to your local store but due to annual stocktake interstore transfers will be blocked in a couple of days until the end of the month. I'll check tomorrow if they'll be available soon but the new models have gone over to doubles (boo hiss ) If less than 2 years old you might get it replaced under warranty (if not accident damage). Any Shimano triple shifter will work but obviously won't match your other, or you could replace with a pair of Claris or older 2nd hand Sora 8s.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
It's not accident damage (it started jumping straight to the small ring when shifting down from large, a not uncommon fault going by a thread on here from a few years back) but I stupidly forgot it was still under warranty when I decided to take it apart and now can't get the brake lever return spring back in.
Appreciate the confirmation on Shimano compatibility, but, yes, would mean either mis-matched shifters or shelling out for a pair (and for that cost, might be as well going down the upgrade route!)
Good to know I can ask the local store about getting one sent from elsewhere.

Yep, definitely not uncommon. I had it on my 500SE within the first year of riding IIRC. Back to the store for a new shifter in the end.

The lever is still shown as an active item but no date is given for more stock.

OK, thanks for checking. Been searching for Claris/8-sp Sora, but not much about for triples, and given the cost of Claris new, I think I'll stick with Microshift, if my local store can get me one.

Thanks, I think I've settled on sticking with Microshift, but if Decathlon can't magic up the part, I might get back to you. Out of interest, did you go Tiagra double or triple, and 10-speed or older 9-sp? Been going round in circles with all the upgrade permutations, and was considering putting Tiagra on my 520 and moving my Sora 9-sp group onto the 500. Struggling to justify the cost though!

Tiagra double front ,10speed.got it from wiggle about Β£245 I think it was. I put the sora parts on my old Raleigh Apex mtb & bought claris flat bar 8speed shifters for it .

I've been meaning to return and update this thread, but kept forgetting.
Replacing the faulty Microshift shifter on my Triban 500 turned out to be a little more expensive than anticipated. After thinking it over, and changing my mind a number of times, I eventually decided to take the opportunity to upgrade both my bikes.
I spent some time on eBay sourcing Tiagra 4700 components to convert my Triban 520 to a 10sp double. I'm not usually keen on spending money unnecessarily, and as I was previously happy with 9-sp triple Sora, had no real reason for changing it, other than I felt like it! The parts I bought were all either unused or very lightly used (seems a lot of people like to upgrade perfectly good components as soon as they get a new bike) and cost under Β£200, including new cables and bar-tape, plus I managed to get a spare set of new chainrings at no extra cost - handy for the future. The complete groupset brand-new was Β£300.
When I took this bike off the road for the winter I stripped it down, gave everything a good clean, and fitted the new bits. I've tested it briefly on my turbo trainer and it seems to work well, but won't be able to make any final adjustments until I take it out on the road in the spring.
I'm continuing to run the Triban 500 this winter with 8-sp Microshift. still with the faulty shifter (I can work around the fault, so replacing it isn't urgent), and come spring, my old Sora 9-sp groupset will be fitted to it. Once stripped down I'll probably need to get the BB shell faced before converting to the Hollowtech BB.
This doubles as my winter bike and summer touring bike, so the plan is to run a 12-25 cassette in the winter, but for touring I'll get something with a few more teeth. I already have both short and medium Sora rear mechs due to replacing the original one on this bike earlier this year.
Still haven't heard back form Decathlon to say if they've got Microshift shifters into stock
Scott.
