Me and Karen are on our 3rd week with no sign of it ending. It ruined our trip to Gran Canaria last week and is keeping us off the bikes now. Any tips on minimising the symptoms? Has anybody actually recovered from it yet?

Mate of mine called last night saying he is in his third week of this flu and showing no signs of getting better. He's an elderly gentleman but a fit one hill walking etc., there's a lot of stuff on line. Take things easy Rocket.
Including this; When and how to seek help
People concerned about flu-like symptoms should stay at home and contact their GP, or call NHS 111, to seek further advice.
For most healthy people, recovering from flu can take roughly a week. However, for those that are more vulnerable, it can be more severe and it is important to be aware of this and seek help when needed.
Dr Iley concluded: “You should see a GP if your symptoms last for more than seven days, or if you’re in one of the high risk groups discussed earlier.
“If you experience sudden chest pains, difficulty breathing or coughing up blood, you should call 999 to seek immediate help.”

We've all heard differing theories but a couple that I believe in are :- - As cyclists we are pretty damn fit creatures, (after seeing your rides on Strava Rocket you are certainly in that category) thereby we stretch our bodies a lot so we are succestible to becoming ill and when we do, we'll get it pretty bad. - Rest up, don't push yourself until you are 100% fit and then ease yourself back into it. I've previously felt 'a little bit' rough. Gone out to a spin class and came back from it with full blown flu symptoms. The physical exercise can push the bugs around your body. - Huge doses of vitamin C. Although they don't stop people getting ill, it's meant to reduce the length of time the virus is in your system. All may well be a load of hocus pocus . . . .

First I've heard of it, but in general with cold/flu bugs (and this is purely anecdotal, from my own experience) I find if you can rest up from when symptoms start, it tends to clear quicker, than if you keep on working/cycling/whatever.
Obviously past that point now for you, and I don't think I'd have canceled a holiday either if I came down with a bug.

Into week 4 now and not right yet. Luckily there was a slight remission over Christmas. Last time I looked both my local Tesco and Asda had sold out of their own brand cold cures.
