I want to be doing 10 mile time trials in under 22 minutes, 25 mile time trials in under 58 minutes. Maybe enter a 50 mile time trial and get higher up the results in hillclimbs. Last but not least I want to win more than the £2 prize money I bagged this year 😂

I'll be trying my best to stay healthy and cycling as much as I can because the benefits are immense!

Explore more (hopefully on a new bike).
Despite doing more miles this year than last year and the year before, I feel I've actually done less in the way of leisure riding. Regular commutes are great for keeping on top of weekly mileage, but it can become a bit repetitive.
Currently discussing a potential circumnavigation by bike of the Isle of Mull with a friend, hopefully sometime in May.
I love the idea of tiling that a few folk on here are doing, and would like to find a free tool as I don't have Veloviewer.

I would like to get more time in. do some more routes. I would like to do a different route each time and also get some greater distance rides in too.

... I love the idea of tiling that a few folk on here are doing, and would like to find a free tool as I don't have Veloviewer. The cheapest VV subscription (PRO) is £10 for the year. I think the Explorer Challenge feature is well worth the subscription, especially when you combine the map tile bookmark file with a free mapping app on your phone to check while out on the tiles/road/trail/cow field etc. They are currently offering 60 days free on The Sufferfest App too.

Next year is about more exploring, as work commitments are likely to make regular commutes and any thoughts of a return to time trials a bit tricky to sustain.
1) Hope to take the Explorer Challenge Max Square out to 40 or above, and 50 would be amazing (currently 21 but may grow by one or two before the end of the year). For a 40x40 (ish) square I would need to ride into each of the 1 mile square tiles from Lymington in the SE corner, Dorchester in the SW, Andover in the NE and Frome in the NW. Most of the groundwork in the south is done but I need to head north and cover a lot of ground around the A30, A303 and A36, and that's a long way from home. I think it may need a fair amount of park and ride to accomplish. Not sure if MoD exclusion zones in Wiltshire will cause problems (Salisbury Plain and Porton Down), so everything may have to shift west which may exclude some of the groundwork I've done already.
2) Would like to take the Max Cluster out to between 2,500 to 3,000 (currently just under 800 but hope to get that to 1000 by year end). The work on the max square will help but there's plenty of scope to build the cluster out to the north and east into Hampshire and the South Downs, and also out into the rest of Dorset and on into Somerset. I have tiles around Bristol and the Cotswolds, thanks to previous BROC rides which it would be great to sweep into the Max Cluster. My lad is currently out in Bristol so there's a place to stay there to help pick off the tiles. I think it may even be possible to extend the cluster out across the Severn Bridge and sweep up some tiles from previous Velothon action.
3) To help with the exploring I may join Audax UK and have a go at some local looping Audax rides. I could then look to grout in the gaps that the Audax loops create.
4) Would like to set another new annual mileage record - 5k for the year would be good, but even 4k would be over this year’s new high.

I'm 400 miles shy of hitting 6,000 miles this year, so although I'm not going to set a specific target, I'd like to keep the mileage around this level next year (in the previous couple of years I've averaged 100 miles per week, but the bulk of that was commuting; this year it's been almost all leisure.) This summer I had a few 2/3-day tours cycle camping in the west Scotland, and I definitely want to do more of this. My aim is to get further afield (perhaps north up the west coast initially, maybe even over to France) and also to increase the number of consecutive days away. Whilst I have no intention of a three-year round-the-world-trip(!), I'd like to get away for a week, or so, at some point. Other than that, just to remain healthy, injury free, and for the wheels to keep on turning (unlike the poor bloke I encountered today whose free-hub had packed up, and he couldn't work out why his chain was just spinning )

Same Km or better than 2016 to work for the year(4200). 2017 was a washout because of accident.

My mileage has decreased this year to just over 4000 miles so im aiming for 5000 miles next year and a few new routes to try.

Aiming for over 4000 miles. Fell short of that this year. Working on the Explorer tiles on Veloviewer. Also hope to complete all the Friday Night Rides to the Coast.

To get out more than this year (won't be hard), and to approach my previous highest level of fitness, where 30-40 mile rides 4/5 times a week was doable, and the odd 100km ride was achievable.

At the moment my aim is just to get back on my bike once!!
Haven’t ridden for over a month now and have completely lost all motivation for it.
Cold/wet weather doesn’t help but also now add in fact it is bound to be tough and unenjoyable as I’d have lost my fitness 🙁

Cold/wet weather doesn’t help but also now add in fact it is bound to be tough and unenjoyable as I’d have lost my fitness 🙁 Cycling in the rain can be really miserable, but dry cold days needn't be a problem with the right amount of clothing (multiple layers, tights, gloves, decent socks, shoe covers, etc.) Aim for a short ride to begin with. If you enjoy it, go for that length again. If you feel up to it next time, go out for a bit longer. I can't deny, it does take a bit more motivation to get out over winter, but I find once you do it, it's usually more enjoyable than you expected (four rides in the past week, and only one where I felt I was struggling a bit on the way back.)
