What do people use and how long does it last before you need to reapply? Im using the Muc-off Dry lube which keeps the chain quiet for about 20 miles then things start to get noisy again. Lasts for about 4 reapplications then complete chain off and degrease in white spirit.

I've come to the conclusion that dry lubes are just rubbish. As you say they really do not last very long. Stick with wet lube or EP90 gearbox oil and accept that the chain will be needing more cleaning. For 100+ mile sportives in the wet I use a Silkolene motorcycle chain lube in a spray can. It sure does cling to the chain but picks up dirt too. Can't have it both ways.

Never reallly used chain lube apart from a try of Squirt in a small bottle. I now use 3 in 1 original spray occasionally and before that WD-40. Never use degreaser or spend much time cleaning either though. Doesn't seem to cause me any problems although I might be losing out on a few watts? I think people get far too stressed and waste a lot of time over cleaning regimes. If everything wears at the same rate then it keeps on shifting well. When it doesn't anymore I will treat myself to the new Ultegra.

Wilco own brand bicycle oil does the job. Only difference I can see from other brands is the printing on the bottle.

Like rocket, any wet lube. Currently muc off, cos it was on offer. Do give chain a wipe after application tho.

B'Twin all weather lube with teflon. Seems good for all but the worst winter weather.

B'Twin all weather lube with teflon. Seems good for all but the worst winter weather. Same here. Probably don't apply it often enough but when I do it does the job!

I tried the following: B'Twin all weather lube with teflon for UK winters - keeps on for long but attracts some grim. Great for commuting in short days when you just don't want to keep revisiting the chain after every wet commute. It would work well for rainy sportive - £2.99 B'TWIN BIKE CHAIN/DERAILLEUR LUBRICANT (300) for UK otherwise - great all rounder - it sticks less in rain but also attracts less dirt. If I had to stick with only one, that would be it. - £2.99 Finish Line dry lube - very well reviewed out there but I beg to differ - ridiculously expensive (£7.5) and good for 20 kms (chatter) or until the first rain. Also, I find Sram Yaw FD very sensitive to well oiled chain, and this one does not deliver. Pretty pointless for a regular guy riding regularly in UK. Perhaps, only good for Rocket Northern powerhouse here - he seems to be generating most of his power on turbo anyways All this preceded by a good cleanup by GT-85. WD-40 would do as well, but I can't get over that orange smell GT-85 delivers.

I use my own lube. watched a video on youtube on a channel called oz cycle. bought a cheap slow cooker and use a mixture of candle wax/liquid paraffin. heat the mixture up, with the chain removed emerse it in the hot wax. the result is very good, it sheds water like water off a ducks back, it is dry so doesn't attract dirt/dust and is durable.
