Saving my pennies for a summer bike, to be honest it'll be Autumn before I can afford one, but looking at anything between £800-£1500. Hills are numerous around here so a fairly lightweight bike would be nice, basically it'll come out for the summer and the sportives so any suggestions welcome. Rose Pro SL-3000 has caught my eye so far.

For climbing in that price range it's got to be the Ultra 900cf This is a B'Twin forum after all...

Rose Pro SL-3000 has caught my eye so far. I have the Pro SL-2000 and I adore that bike. I've had one problem with it ever, the front gear cable hadn't been quite routed correctly into the frame... and a few 100 miles in, it jumped into the right place, meaning the front mech was all indexed wrong now... easy to fix, and if that's my only complaint... marvellous bike it is.

Having said I love my Rose. Now I'd be looking at the Btwin Ultras - but they were not there when I was looking 2.5 years ago.

I like the Canyon. Just for info, the previous version with 105's gets some pretty good reviews at £100 less and topped the Btwin 720AF at £1050 in a back to back test I saw. Main complaint with the Btwin was the brake caliper position on the rear.

Main complaint with the Btwin was the brake caliper position on the rear. I recently purchased a Boardman which has the rear brake located under the chainstays, ok I've not ridden the bike in the wet but the braking is absolulty fine and not a faff to adjust. I'd certainly not be put off getting the 720AF because of the rear brake.
