Yes start would be from Clapham Common and as suggested Clapham Junction rail station is 5 mins away with direct connection to Brighton (50 min journey) so very easy for the return leg also very easy for starting too. Buying train tickets in advance as a group can be very cost effective too as once you get to 3 or more tickets there are significatnt savings Cant look at September prices yet but as example traveling on Saturday 15th July Brighton to Clapham Jct would be: £18.10 for a single £36.20 for two (£18.10 ea) £35.85 for three (£11.95 ea) each additional ticket is £11.95 too When my son and I joined the last BROC L2B we drove to Havant, paid something like £8 each for single to Clapham (Southern Rail had some benefits) and then cycled to the meet point at the common. Once in Brighton we waved goodbye, had some food and then set off along the coast. We got about close to Chichester on the return before light and legs faded, so not too far from the car, taking the train back. Quite a few cyclists and bikes on the train, including some riding in fancy dress for charity. Possibly annoyed a few of the other passengers with the bikes but the guards never caused us a problem. The route is pretty urban to start with but eventually shifts to rural riding. Enough hills to make life interesting without being crazy and then the fun of Ditchling as the iconic climb (so good some of us rode it twice) with it pretty much downhill all the way from there. Finishing on the seafront is always a thing, even if you value your runs and don't dip your wheel in the sea or host your bike aloft on the pebbles. If you do the return the run back up from Brighton the climb back over the South Downs is more of a slot than and lung buster and then it's rolling for the rest of the way pretty much.

I am working on call for the 23rd so will have to be the 30th if I do go. But don't let that sway the masses.

Sounds the same as an audax I did last year - the Ditchling Devil. triban3owners.freeforums.net/post/110305/thread/5944Great ride. Still time to book for June 6 this year.

There is a chance I'll be down in London. I'll keep an eye on the thread.
