Could do Saturday 23 or 30 September but would carry on down into Brighton and just get the train back as only cost us about £8 last time when booked in advance and only a couple of stops back to Clapham

Sure did escalate quickly. Excellent! Either 23rd or 30th Sept look good to me. Was going to see if my lad wanted to join us again but he'll be busy around that time. If we can get marcwlms to join us that could just about be a reunion of the 2015 L2B. Like last time I'll go over the Beacon to the seafront and then head west along the coast toward home and see how far I get before I run out of legs.

Potentially I'd come too... but hard to commit with various childcare etc issues.

I'm intrigued as there are some of you that don't live in London. So how are you sorting out logistics? Without researching, if you don't live local, its going to be quite expensive and difficult I would have thought?

Assuming a start on Clapham Common, most of the roads nearby have resident parking that operates only Mon-Fri so a space should be available for an early start. Clapham Junction station is within 5 mins ride with national rail and London Overground connections. Trains back from Brighton stop here and, as RobP said, can be quite cheap with advanced tickets. I might sign up for this. I've done it a couple of time with BHF.

Not sure I could do the 112 miles each way between Gloucester and Clapham Junction r0b1et ! Just a quick look on the Trainline, which would only let me look up until July, showed tickets at a weekend from Brighton to Clapham Jct as around £20 direct. How do the train companies cater for bikes? Also, it may be another dumb question, but what is so special about the London to Brighton route?

Yes start would be from Clapham Common and as suggested Clapham Junction rail station is 5 mins away with direct connection to Brighton (50 min journey) so very easy for the return leg also very easy for starting too.
Buying train tickets in advance as a group can be very cost effective too as once you get to 3 or more tickets there are significatnt savings
Cant look at September prices yet but as example traveling on Saturday 15th July Brighton to Clapham Jct would be:
£18.10 for a single £36.20 for two (£18.10 ea) £35.85 for three (£11.95 ea) each additional ticket is £11.95 too

Obviously made famous by the charity ride, but there's certainly something appealing about the idea of cycling from the capital (or anywhere inland really) to the coast.

Obviously made famous by the charity ride, but there's certainly something appealing about the idea of cycling from the capital (or anywhere inland really) to the coast. I wasn't sure whether it was supposed to be the most scenic route in the UK, had the most iconic climbs or whether it was just an escape from the capital inland to coast route.

Actually it has to do with property values - there's something to be said about a beach within cycling distance, whether you are selling or renting.
